Where do you live Doyle. I'm from Belfast. Can you contribute to this thread. I too had tickets for McCullough-Martinez fight.
[The boxer your talking about is Mathew Macklin. He trains with Ricky Hatton. He's a great prospect. quote=pipe wrenched]I have grown interested in Irish boxing, mainly because RTE is cool enough to broadcast their fights live on the internet. I was really starting to like Bernard Dunne, but there's been no news of him lately. It's fun watching Irelands fights on RTE, being completely truthful I've never seen a dull fight they show. Duddy's fun to watch and they showed Andy Lee last week. Who is the other Middle Weight that is starting to shine (sorry can't remember his name) and I believe he fought on the undercard of the last Duddy fight they showed. He seemed like somebody fun to watch as well. As seen on RTE the Irish fans show up in big numbers to support their fighters and it's always a good show.

Thank you!! Yes, Matthew Macklin had a damn good showing when I saw him on RTE. I sure hope they keep it up!!
Doyle, In my opinion Brian Peters will put Irish boxing on the Map. He's networking everywhere. Dublin will be the centre of this of Irish boxing for the forseeable future. Macklin is from Birmingham, but his parents are Irish.
really have a great feeling about dungiven boy paul mccloskey, although i am often concerned about his style, very unorthodox!felt gutted for haughian 2 weeks ago,was probably a fair decision though. about duddy cuttin down to 154,not a bloody chance in hell, yea he stays around 170 out of fights and is always fit,but he doesnt have much more he could cut, middleweight is a much more profitable and interesting proposition.would be insane if peters could get duddy to the kings hall for march 16th/17th,lets just hope vanda doesnt cut him up! macklin is very much irish, played for tipp u-21s hurling, great prospect and very similar to duddy, except he finds much more angles,i honestly think he'd beat duddy at this moment. andy lee needs nobody else to say anything about him,hes doing all he can in the ring and im sure will be a superstar in the next 5 years! well played to brian peter, its bringing passion and fire back into the irish person not seen since the days of collins and long may it continue to do so!
[I know Eamonn, we fought in the same amateur club Sacrad Heart, Belfast. I think he's retired, but he's now helping John Breen train the up and comeing stars in Breens Gym.quote=Doylexxx]lol Wheres Emaon Magee , saw him fight live many times, last time against Takaloo, met him nice man, sad his on that losing streak, his leg injury looks scary up close
I hear Duddy will be in Madison Square Garden on the 15th of March. Dont underestimate Duddy. I think he can make a real impact in world boxing, once he gets his defence in order.
Is Hatton of irish stock, some one suggested that a while back on ESB. Might make a differance to the way I feel about him.......:yep
Thanks, seems not many know this. So one sde of his ancestry is irish? Great going then, needs to find an irish coach perhaps.. teach him to box. :smoke
