Wayne is one of the most respected fighters the sport has. He has had a great amateur and pro career. His fights with morales and Hamed are up there with my top fights. Sadly he seems to be one of those fighters who doesnt know when to call it a day. I know boxing has been his life since a young age and maybe it is the fear of not having a fight to prepare for that keeps some fighters going but wayne can still do alot in the sport without risking his health. His coaching career could be as rewarding as his fight career was!

Indeed I did, fra. Tried my best to find out about the lesser-known opponents, it will be going in the fight programmes. Forgive me for bigging everyone up, hope I did okay, ha ha.

I'm intrigued to see how Spike gets on - he would make some statement if he managed to get Eugene Stan out of there early...Heads will be turning.

Keep an eye out for the papers tomorrow, there is already talk of a superfight between John Duddy and Jamie Moore if the two come through their next couple of fights.

Tommy Egan has been in negotiations with Eddie McLoughlin at the initial stage in the last couple of days.

The basic premise is if Duddy defeats Verno Phillips to win the IBF light-middleweight title, a match that is almost a given for later this year, then his management has agreed in principle to fight...

Jamie Moore, the Irish and European champion if Jamie wins both on Saturday and in September.

How about that lads...two of the best warriors on these islands squaring off in MSG or Atlantic City. One the world champion from Derry, the other the Irish and Euro champ...I'm nearly wetting my britches thinking about it.

A St Patrick's Day showdown...you would have to nail me to the floor to stop me swimming the Atlantic for it.

On a side note, anyone thinking of going to the Tallaght show, please do. It's not just because I have become friendly with Tommy Egan, its because if it is a success on telly and at the box office, then it gives him legitimacy to bring titles fights and even better cards down the line. That means more action for us fans.

If anyone is in Tallaght on Friday night or Saturday evening, I'd love to go for a pint to shoot the breeze. Anyone game?

I was thinking of watching the show on tv when i heard steve collins would be in the studio!

 

Just popped in to see what the news was on Duddy. Read a few pages. Burns is good for him it seems? You are right about him working on his boxing skills. I've been telling people in other threads that I thought he learned his lesson in his last fight. He found what didn't work and made the change. Too many posters couldn't get past the first couple rounds of that fight in drawing conclusions.
