Paul Hyland beat Marc Callaghan very impressively - alternating from orthodox to southpaw regularly and hitting his opponent at will. His timing was spot on. He looks to be a fine prospect.

Yeah Paulie looked good was abit disapointed with Callaghan but dont take away from a good points win for Hyland. He took his place next to Lee Mc Closkey Murray etc.as another great Irish talent.

Ciaran Healey stopped in 3rd round by Jamie Moore. Moore was in a different class

I only remembered the fight in time to catch the Hyland and Moore bouts, so I don't know how O'Sullivan did. The venue is nowhere near full. The commentary seems a bit better than the RTE version.

Its really great to see two broadcasters now competing to show Irish boxing for free at prime time.

Coverage is better than RTE, I would say. Paschall Collins doing ringside and Steve Collins in studio. Turnout is very poor - no more than half full unfortunately. Didn't show O'Sullivan yet - they went live to Hyland fight and then to Moore fight. Just showed last round of Martinez fight - he won on points. They may show O'Sullivan fight before the end.

One disappointing thing about the coverage - all they wanted to talk about was the 2 main bouts and a small piece on Kiko Martinez. No mention of other contests. Perhaps you could have a word about that Podge - it took away from what was otherwise a well presented show.

Thanks again Mick, lets hope this is not a one-off promotion from TV3 and Egan.I suppose now its all down to the TV ratings.:think

The card itself was fine, the standard of boxing was good and the entertainment value was good . But they're going to have to do something about promoting it a bit more .

There was probably less than 600 people there tonight and I'm gonna guess the viewing figures will be low too . I'd say the appearance of the two Hyland brothers(being from Tallaght) is the only thing which kept the attendance from being pathetically low .

The crowd actually got smaller once Paul Hyland's fight finished, quite a few didn't stay around for the main event so obviously they were Hyland fans as there was certainly nothing wrong with the action . Still I'd much prefer the crowd stay large for the main event .

Paul Hyland looked very good in there against Marc Callaghan, Egan should try and hold on to him and try and develop him as one of his headliners for his 'Big Time Boxing' . He's got a bit of star quality about him .

Anyway the main thing is the fights were good, and once the fights are good attendance and viewing figures should improve . Afterall this was the first card and the reason a lot of people didn't watch it or go to it is they simply didn't know about it .

...how could you say the coverage was better than rte!!!you had Paschal Collins criticising the referee and Callaghans corner for not stopping the fight from rnd 3 onwards when in fact Callaghan never looked in any danger of being stopped by Hyland. Give me Mick Dowling's analysis everytime..

Ciaran Healey put up a great fight for a round and a bit i thought...
as for the crowd..yep, appeared small..but they made a lot of noise...

    think we'll see martinez v dunne 2 ??

also...it sounds like tv3 are going to start showing a lot more boxing...and the 'irish title' becoming more prestigious...all good i think..

I was there! The atmosphere was **** after the Moore fight:-( I couldn't believe the place( already small enough) was only half full.. it's coz the tickets were too pricey..mine were 65 and the ringside were 130ish! ****in crazy stuff as I could've sat wherever I wanted as it was empty. Spike O'Sullivan was impressive but was using his head a bit too much and his bout should've been on later as it was more entertaining then those shambles of fights with O'Brien & Sweeney. Paulie Hyland was excellent and I can see him giving Bernard Dunne a whuppin if they meet in a year or 2. Patrick Hyland was very good aswell but was in with a slippery Geoffrey Munika and was made miss alot and what did connect was brushed off by the Kenyan. Martinez is shitty he needs to learn to throw a straight ****in punch!!! And Jamie Moore...what can I say?? That was lamb slaughter:happy

All in all a good show but Egan needs to promote the Hylands alottttttttt more!

I hope you enjoyed yourself Piston, just two little things .
What would you estimate was the attendance there ?, and what were the results for the fights other than Moore, Paul Hyland, Martinez and O'Sullivan ?
