Casey should have fought Martinez and a few European level fighters before thinking about world class fighters. He'd have learned more and would have increased his popularity. It's going to be very hard for him to get another fight on RTE, he will be remembered by most Joe Soaps as that guy who got battered by that Cuban lad. When the fight was announced I said that it was a mistake and I stand by that regardless of whatever money he got for it (which I wouldn't say was all that much anyway).

I think it really depends on numbers if he'll be shown on RTE again, to be fair to casey he really draws a crowd and maybe its because i live in limerick but everyone was talkin about the fight even though they knew nothin about boxing (i even told em what to expect but no1 listened!) anyone have an idea of the no of viewers for the fight?

This isnt hindsight, I remember saying it before Casey and Hyland that both of them are behind Acosta and Frampton. Everyone is talking about Casey going back to EBU level but to be fair, Casey was never at Ebu level. Hes done well to achieve what he has but I personally cant see him winning a European title again. Booth, Frampton, Quigg, Munroe are all at a different level to Casey in my opinion and thats just the fighters I know. Could be some other handy fighters on mainland Europe. People say he was right to take the Rigo fight and he got well paid but RTE really wanted the Kiko fight. I wonder if he wouldnt have got just as much money for that fight? I think Kiko would beat Willie too but it would be a closer fight

I give Casey every chance against Booth. Booth is past his best and was never great to begin with. He could beat Quigg aswell.

Munroe, Acosta and Frampton would be very heavy favourites against him.

I agree. He was lucky with the way the European title shot came about in fairness. He was supposed to have fought Martinez originally.

Quigg beats Casey. Booth beats Casey.

Casey loses by CARNAGE v Frampton.

I see Molitor got beat tonight lads by a South African that he had already beaten twice already! Just shows how far Molitor has slipped, he was the guy that dolphil should have brought to fight Casey.

Rigondeaux was always gonna slaughter poor Willie and i'd say almost everyone on here knew it even if we didnt want to admit it! He might have had a shot with Molitor though or at least a chance to be competitive. Dolphil jumped at the first world title chance they were offered for Willie and it was crazy to accept it, the only winners out of it were Rigondeaux and Gary Hyde, they must be laughing all the way to the bank. Its hard to see how Willie can rebuild from here, boxing fans in Ireland might back him but the bandwagon jumpers have already jumped ship just like they did with Bernard after Kiko.

Ha ha, just saw your post after posting mine. Not sure Willie would have beaten him but at least he would probably have been very competitive and maybe even wear Molitor down late on.

Interesting question Mush. It seems gloves make a big difference in big punching fighs (to state the bleedin' obvious).

I thought the Adidas Carlos wore before looked a bit depcapitation styles. Then again I've an Adidas fetish. Any maybe a Carlos fetish too.

    Ohh matron!
