I'd heard of him but it was a name I'd long forgotten. Does anyone know what these injury issues were? Must have been serious to keep him out of action for this long
Macklin is flying in this dude for some sparring - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8rOq6Rkqbc&feature=related[/ame]
I thought it had been established that the Mayweather "injury " was just put out there to leave the fight build a bit due to poor ticket sales? And the only person who ever said Gorman injured him was Gorman? Probably just me being skeptical of sparring stories again
yea was talking to gorman about him when the story came out and he said it was the person who wrote the story who more or less put those words in his mouth and said be a good story that theres no truth in it, he was supposed to weigh in at 64kg for this years seniors but never happened he was in crumlin sparring casey a gud bit for rigo fight.
Is it me or is Dudey looking strong then I have ever seen him before? That 10/1 that Boylesports are offering seems almost as generous as the Evens obtained for a Rigo win. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2I5aVdfC5w[/ame]
Ah here Slapbag!!! The Rigo KO was free money ffs! I wouldn't say 10/1 is as generous as that but it certainly is a sporting price which is more than you get for most events these days. The strength and conditioning coach certainly seems to have worked his magic with Dudey, though, and hopefully he reaps the rewards!
Those Strength and Conditioning coaches are a great thing McCloskey always looked fleshy at the weight, according to that video he has halved his bodyfat %, and he clearly looks to have added a fair bit of muscle mass on top of that. If done right we should be seeing a quicker, stronger and more explosive Dudey than we've ever seen before. Will that be enough to see him beat Khan ?, who knows. BTW the fact that someone who has reached the level of European champion has gone their whole career without working with a strength and conditioning coach shows how ******ed our sport can be at times.
Still think Dudey should have used Dean Byrne as a sparring partner. Dean basically put the offer on a plate for him, but for whatever reason, Breen/Dudey didn't take him up on the offer. Maybe heading away to train in the heat for a few weeks wouldn't have done him any harm either. Wonder what weight hes at now? Heard 2 or 3 weeks ago that he was at 147
Yip! over two months ago, the offer is still open and could be sorted over night. http://www.boxing-ireland.com/20110114_paul_mccloskey_amir_khan_66.html
I'm not sure if not sparring Byrne was all that bad of an idea. I mean, other than being a decent fighter, Dean doesn't really offer McCloskey anything. From what I've seen he hasn't got the style to prepare him for Khan.
Deano was very keen on it and said he would help Dudey a lot with "inside info" on Khan, when I had a wee chat with him once on Facebook. Who else is Dudey sparring apart from Gary Hydes lad Levan .... whatever his surname is? I hope there is someone else... Don't know an awful lot about how Levan is shaping up as a pro, apart from being told hes "tall and strong"
exactly! Deano is a great sparring partner and guarentees 6 quality rounds a day. Himself and Gavin had a ding-dong on friday and he jumps in and does another heavy 6 with Mattie Hall on Monday. Deano is also good at mimicking styles to.
There's also another side 2 that coin how does mccloskey know if deano won't give "inside info" on him 2 khan if they sparred, him an khan are friends after all? Also a heard mccloskey has a south American over sparring
It seems strange on the face of things but it could just be a case that they've got their own plan and bringing in Byrne could distract them slightly....
