Should be an announcement in the coming week or so. My understanding is that the first fight already signed and sealed is Michael Gomez and Kevin O'Hara at super-featherweight.

That to me is an intriguing contest.

Gomez showed the British fight fans that he has cajones the size of Galway Bay in the recent Amir Khan fight.
But he has never redeemed himself properly with the Irish fans after his "No Mas" performance in 2006. He is almost maniacal about Irish redemption, according to Tommy Egan. Let's face it, Gomez is always good value when his head is right. The vibes are good.

"Sweet Pea" Kevin O'Hara could propel himself right back in the mix with a victory over Gomez. He has come up a little short against Willie Limond, Choi Tseveenpurev and Henry Castle. But his bout with Eddie Hyland was a contender for fight of the year, by all accounts. A victory over Gomez would kickstart his career.

This fight has all the ingredients for a stonker, in my opinion. Both need the victory for their own reasons.

That will be one of the bigger fights on the bill. No word of a venue yet, except to say it won't be the Basketball Arena for logistical reasons. It needs to be more central, whether it be Dublin, Belfast or elsewhere - a good crowd is essential.

 

That's great news, Gomez v O'Hara will be a ******* if Egan pulls it off. It's great that Egan is bringing over these big names, and hopefully it will raise the bar for other promotions.

If they set this fight in Belfast then I can't see any problem in drawing a big big crowd.

I think a fight between Gomez and O'Hara should be in Belfast, the Breen gym have a wealth of talent there in Belfast.Im sure Egan could pull in a bigger crowd up there with that stable of boxers on the bill.:deal

 

bit of a random questions for yaz gents but it dawned on me recently that I dont know were the high performance team train! Is the gym in the stadium or what??
