Heard from a very good source that it was Billy Walsh that ordered the 60kilo box offs its well known he is abig supporter of Donovan and apartantly said he felt Mc Donagh didnt have what it took at international level.
Reallly hope the young lad does it again and gets the place in the europeans that should be his by right.

Belfast will have it's first pro boxing show of the year, and the irony is the next show will be in the Odssey [ when McCloskey boxes Prescott], in August or September. It seems there's no in between in Belfast boxing, it's either Alio plugging away valiantly putting on small hall boxing for a few hundred people or a major promoter putting a show on at the Kings Hall or Odssey for several thousand. I would prefer to see more shows at the Ulster Hall [ capacity 1200] or the Waterfront [capacity 3000] . Mcguigan tried last year to promote in Belfast, but quickly abandoned it after two shows at the Ulster Hall. I know on both occassions he struggled to sell the event, but in my opinion there was a definite interest building in the causal fan, and it would have been only a matter of time before Frampton was boxing infront of capacity crowds.

..politics, did you notice there was only a boxoff at 60 and 69, and one club had two beaten boxers in each weight ;)..I'll let you figure the rest for yourself, btw, I was refereeing in Waterford last night, St Pauls V Dublin Select and Karl Brabazon was there cornering boxers..rumours about a court case as to why he didn't get a boxoff..

..lovely young fella, had him box James Moore on a show down here a few years ago just before James turned pro...should have been mandatory that he got a boxoff..politics and poor decisions are ruining the amateurs..
