If the fight takes place in Belfast Irish Ropes will still need somebody with a BBBC licence (Which Peters has) to run the show in this juristiction. So Id imagine Peters is very much in the picture.

Yes Big Ears I was at the previous Limerick show and was surprised when I saw McCloskey up close that he was carrying excess weight. He doesn't appear to be honed the way you would expect a light welter to be.

 

Some fighters dont cut up in a muscular way, the way others would, but if he is carrying extra weight he should consider a move down to lightweight.:thumbsup

 

A real shot in the dark but does anyone know anything about a good Northern Heavyweight called Tommy (Tom) Toner who boxed in the USA from 1928-30 and in the UK from then until 1932. I think he became attached to the Draperstown ABC and coached at national level but thats where I lost him?

Ardy the reason I rate Haughian higher is because I'm all too familiar with Sinclair's career . He hasn't beaten anyone decent since Pryce(5 years ago) and has looked pretty shot for the past 3 years . Maybe his performance in Italy was good(I haven't seen any media reaction to that fight at all) but it's not a win on the record anyway and in the last 4 years he has gone 4-4 . The 4 wins are over complete journeymen .

I could never see Haughian losing to Francis Jones and especially not by brutal ko, okay Sinclair was winning the fight but that counts for nothing if you get knocked out .

I remember watching the Sinclair v Santos fight and while I agree that it came too soon I don't think he ever would of beaten Santos(who is a very good fighter) and he would of only been cannon fodder for the likes of De La Hoya or Trinidad .

Look at the speed and reflexes of Sinclair in those videos, it shows how the modern version is nowhere close to even how good he green version of Sinclair was .

Also Sinclair is nowhere near getting an eliminator at the moment , just last month the BBBofC chose Kevin McIntyre(true champion) as the next mandatory to Kell Brook and also mandated the eliminators of Young Muttley v John O'Donnell and Marc Thompson v Tony Doherty . Terms and conditions on those fights have to be agreed by August 13th and have to take place by the end of November .

Now considering the winner of each eliminator will probably be matched against each other . Sinclair could be waiting close to a year before he would even get an eliminator himself and at the moment he doesn't deserve to be near one .

He used to be a very very good fighter but he has done absolutely nothing of late and I hope this doesn't come across as too harsh cause I know you're a big fan of the guy and Neil does seem like a lovely man but the guy seems finished . His speed and reflexes are gone and without that he's just an ineffective chinny banger with poor stamina .

Stephen Haughian imo would knock him out(while leading on the cards) .


Outside of those already mandated in eliminators you have Adnan Amar, Craig Watson, Kevin Anderson, Mark Lloyd, Michael Lomax, Matthew Hatton, Francis Jones, Stephen Haughian and probably even Chas Symonds who are closer to getting an eliminator imo .

If Sinclair is looking to get one he better start getting fights, he better start getting wins, and he better be doing it against some of those guys in that list if he is to stand any chance of getting one .

 

If this fight is going to occur in early October, they need to come to an agreement soon.

Haughian has done nothing to deserve the type of talk he afforded by some on this board.I think he is far behind the likes of Andy Murray,Paul Hyland and Martin Lynsdey in both amateur and pro ranks.
That said he is a novice pro and i wish him well in his development.
