Well it's not something that's been introduced as a rule as such, just that my interpretation of the new scoring system would favour a higher punch output than the old one previously which relied on the '3 judges pressing within one second' system.

Seeing as we're getting an average of the middle 3 judges scores, and the scores don't have to have come from the same time period, maybe if 2 of the judges haven't got a great view and score what looked like a legal blow to them (but maybe caught the gloves or landed with the inside of the glove) and then this scenario is repeated but it's two of the other judges involved, you would get the impression that a higher punch output could be more beneficial than previously. Of course I've used an example where blows that should be non scoring are scored, in recent times it seems that half the blows that are clearly scoring still weren't counted and again you would think a higher punch output would suit the new system better here.

I don't think it'll remove the shell defence completely but I think less fighters may adopt that approach as it will be less effective.

Yeah, the scoring punches and criteria hasn't changed, just the method of recording it and turning it into actual scores. I think you are right about that effect but also judges have to be more careful now, when they press incorrectly it seems to me to be more likely to be a score as the buffer of two other judges is gone.

Lost the decision. Disgraceful. I was just about to post that it was a tremendous performance, outclassed the Russian. Only possible explanation was that he used the ring a lot and didn't come forward. But he still won the fight clearly. How many scoring shots did anyone see the Russian land?

Should be about 20-5 for Nevin, worst decision I've ever seen. Russian outclasses and schooled.
