can anyone tell me how much of a prospect james moore really is?he's in a weakish division and with his record i'm sure he'll begin to make the step up in grades soon enough.

Did you guys ever hear the story of when the great John L. Sullivan was fighting I believe it was one Dominick McCaffrey in Cincinnati, Ohio? Well, englishman Charley Mitchell was ringside for that one and called Sullivan out after the bout (which John L won by six round decision). Sullivan beckoned Mitchell to fight him right then and there saying - "Strip down limey! I'll fight you right now!" Mitchell ended up fighting Sullivan later and getting a 39-round draw. Sullivan had knocked Mitchell down countless times and would have kayoed him if not for Mitchell's survival tactics. Both Sullivan and later James J Corbett had a supreme disdain for the english. Corbett saw cornishman Bob Fitzsimmons in a Philadelphia hotel a few months before their 1897 bout. He grabbed Fitz's nose and twisted it then called Fitz a "red haired ******." Fitz never gave Corbett a rematch after that fight. He said if Corbett ever came near him again he would just shoot him.

Hi, Ardy, thanks for the reply. Gareth, who posted just above has a bunch of good videos at his you tube site, including both Scott and Rogie. To me, Rogie (even though he is up in age a bit) looked like he had potential. When he beat Morgan from Wales, I thought he was on the way to a career. He looks like the type who likes to mix it up when he gets going, a crowd pleaser. Great heads up about Beshaw coming over, had no idea. It'd Be something if Martin joined him. Irish-ropes- celtic gloves, who knows. Anyway, really hope this is James' year. All the best to all of them!;)

    Hello Gareth!

There are so many stories about John L., a real larger than life character if ever there was one. There is a new book out about his life (ring exploits especially) written by a member of esb., His user name is A. Pollack I think. Seems very well read on all the fighters of that era.;)

It's no surprise that Sullivan and Corbett hated the British, considering the history between our two countries. The strange thing is Fitzsimmons was from Cornwall and most likely of celtic origin.

No Ardy, my grandparents were though, from county Mayo. And I had the pleasure of visiting in the summer 69' and again in 70'. Hate to think how much it's changed. I was born in Brooklyn, and now a transplant to Boston.

As well as Belshaw winning. Cork based, Cuban heavyweight hopeful Mike Perez won inside a round. There is speculation Perez will appear in Limerick next week.Patrick Hyland, Jon O'Brian and Gary O'Sullivan all picked up wins

In main event Cork's Billy Walsh outpointed Bellfast's James Gorman over 10rds, winning the Irish welterweight title.
