very tentative bout, very edgy i was worried in the first that kenny wasn't going to find his range, although i was surprised he went in after 1 2-0 down, styles make fights and kenny was made to fight the wrong fight,i don't know why he went chasing to begin with when he could have sat off and made his right do the work!

the point that the chinese got for landing on kenny's glove was ridiculous!

that was real sad...i had a feeling after the first round...that egan would not only b fighting his opponent...but fighting the judges also...but on the bright side...this is a shot in the arm 4 boxing...the sport is growing at every level in Ireland..am and pro...so..well done to all our boxers in the olympics...its been great the last 2 weeks watching there progress:good

Dubious scoring again, unlucky kenny, did the country proud.

lets not overlook...that despite the scoring against him...silver medal at an olympics is a huge huge achievement...and he is a superb boxer and should be very very proud to have silver...

Yeah, Kenny can be proud, but he should have won gold, if that bout had have been fought anywhere but in China, Egan would now have a gold medal around his neck.:-(

Egan should give the pro game a try.Theres good money to be made, if he signs with Peters or his second cousin Tommy Egan. Four or five years in the pro game could could make him a tidy sum.:hi:

    yup...he'd do well..

which leads me on to a question i tried to ask earlier...

do you think that carruth should have done better as a pro?

I dont think he ever adopted properly to the pro game, although he fought for the WBO title in Germany[beat over 12rds], he was exposed by Stone in England. I think Egan might have the same problems as Carruth adopting, but with RTE and tv3 money floating around, at least he could cash in on his medal.:yep

We only saw the final round here, non irish commented on the scoring being suspect also.

aye...good answer...he didnt do too bad now that i look back through his boxrec...adopting to the pro game is something that can't be taken for granted alright...
