Johnny google it or youtube it. Id be all night explaining. Monk dont be so sour gambling is the main aspect though
No not from Aughagower tommy, im from around castlebar, wouldnt be too far away though. One of my mates is from Aughagower and he was fairly handy at road bowling. I never so much as saw as played a game of it but i heard theres a few good players around those parts.
Tommy, can you blame me being sour, it turns my five minute trip to work into a seven minute journey ffs.
Just read up on it there and watched a few videos. Id say its nothing but ****in hassle lookin for the ****in ball ha.
bernard dunne was actually out the road few months ago for some documentary that was on RTE but i missed it then when it was on.
was out and about in belfast tonight! man never meet as many people related to boxers in my life- either there is only one bar and night club here or there is a boxing night out on a thursday! three people recognised us from the presser and then it snowballed from there! pity it was 80 pecent blokes and 20 percent women far from note

You're friends with him Tommy are ya? He was some boxer! I asked a while back were we talking bout the Arthur from Fermoy but got no response. Seeing as you mentioned road bowling, i now know it's definitely him. Even when he was boxing from the age of around 11-15 he was known as a great bowler. And he would have been relatively light in weight himself! It's such a shame he disappeared off the boxing scene. Was it mainly due to the bowling that he quit the boxing? He walked through a couple of all-irelands and four nations as a young fella. Only speculating now, but did the trouble regarding boxing in fermoy have anything to do with him quitting? I know the club essentially split in 2 with the forming of St. John's. As u probly know yourself there was plenty rumours flying around at the time about a certain trainer :-(
I dont think the trouble in the clubs played much part, my personal opinion would be that John Mahons death was more important. All the McDonaghs were close to John, especially Arthurs dad Timmy. Arthurs younger brother trains at the old club, dont think any of the McDonaghs went to St Johns but I could be wrong. Arthur has trouble with his knee, dont know if that was part of the reason he jacked it in or if he just got sick of it. He still does a bit of training so a comeback could always be possible. Thing is he can make a lot more money winning All Irelands bowling than boxing. And its easier for him too
Here is highlights of yesterdays boxing at the Youth Commonwealth Games . N.Ireland had one boxer on yesterday Enda Kennedy at 60kg against New Zealand and Kennedy destroyed him and looked the part in doing so, skip to about 4 minutes for the boxing . All fighters weigh in ok. Prescott had to lose 1 Ilb but came back 40 mins later and made weight. Carlos looks ripped, in great condition. Marc McCullough v Dai Davies might turn out to be the fight of the under card, that one will be a war I think.
Stayed very classy throughout, Slap, and it sounds like Buncie will have you on again soon. Good analysis of McCloskey/Prescott, imo. Maybe I've missed it, but really happened at the presser between you and Martin (not related to me) Rogan. I still think he seems like a great character.
