    Because Madiana is a better fighter than Prescott. Paul while he has a good defence is not exactly unhitable or unhurtable as shown in the Prescott fight. Madianas power is also proven at a far higher level than Prescott's who has never ko'ed a notable opponent besides Khan.

    had dudey up by 1point. Gave him rounds 3&4 and the last five. Wasn't that impressed with McCloskey tonight. Moving backwards in straight lines with his chin in the air he was a sucker for that right hand. Fair play to him though showed tremendous heart down the stretch. Glad that shitty knockdown didnt make a difference aswell.

    Also wat was quigg saying during the frampton fight, was watching it in a pub with no sound.

    McCloskey? Fair play comeback kid.

    Frampton is the future. I'll keep blowing his trumpet. You won't stop me. Frampton KTFO1 The World.

    Maidana is a power puncher, to be sure, but he has one ko in his last four fights. A badly faded Demarcus corley took him the distance a year ago. Paul is a boxer/counter puncher, so it's not like he's going to try to match his power anyway. I agree that he's an all-around better fighter than Prescott, but what gave Paul trouble was prescott's speed and reach. Maidana's is a plodder, not a boxer. If Paul's reflexes don't let him down, he could box the ears off him, IMO.

    I think to be effective against Maidana, Matthyse, Prescott etc Paul needs to use more footwork rather than relying on lateral movement. Was getting caught far too easy last night. Kevin Mitchell is fringe world class, Miguel Vasquez is world class and both soundly outboxed Prescott. Paul needed Prescott to gas badly before he got a foothold in the fight and even then was quite lucky to get the decision. Showed great heart, but not a great performance

    I think Hearn should make sure that McCloseky's big fights are in Ireland, a lot of those close rounds could have gone the other way if the fight had been in Colombia and the first may have been scored 10-8 but I think most judges there last night punted for 10-9;

    This is how I scored it;

    Round McCloskey Prescott
    1 9 10
    2 9 10
    3 10 9
    4 10 9
    5 9 10
    6 9 10
    7 9 10
    8 10 9
    9 10 9
    10 10 9
    11 10 9
    12 10 9

    McCloskey is a B- level fighter who will never challenge at world level.
