mixed news for Gary Hydes fighters. Levan gets a spot on the Martinez undercard next week against a guy thats 14-0. But rigos spot on the Cotto Margarito ppv is gone cos Ramos team rejected the money despite having shook hands on the deal. Have to feel a bit for Rigo, nothing seems to go smoothly for him

Andy Lee: “If I don’t win this fight with Vera then there is no tomorrow. So everything comes down to Saturday.”

by Geoffrey Ciani (Exclusive Interview by Jenna J & Geoffrey Ciani) - The 143rd edition of On the Ropes Boxing Radio (brought to you by CWH Promotions) featured an exclusive interview with middleweight contender Andy Lee (26-1, 10 KOs) who is looking to avenge his only career loss in a long awaited rematch against rival Brian Vera (19-5, 12 KOs). Lee spoke about the fight, and talked about the impact their first fight had on his career. He also touched on a variety of other topics including Sergio Martinez’s upcoming fight with Darren Barker,

Junior’s controversial KO victory against Victor Ortiz, Felix Sturm’s highly disputed victory against Matthew Macklin, Manny Pacquiao, fighting in Germany, and more! Here is a complete transcript of that interview:

JENNA J: Let’s move things to our second guest of this week’s show. He is making his sixth appearance to On the Ropes and he’s on the cusp of getting a title shot. We are joined by “Irish” Andy Lee. How’s everything going today, Andy?

ANDY LEE: Everything is going good. Thank you, Jenna. Thanks for having me on the show. Everything is going good. I’m here in Detroit in the final week of training. So I’m just finishing up sparring. I did ten good rounds yesterday and I’m looking forward to the week ahead, and then on to the fight!

JENNA: Alright well you mention the fight. It’s been three years in the making, that’s a rematch with Brian Vera. Now that you’re less than two weeks away from it, how do you feel about the matchup?

LEE: I’m feeling very good. Like you said, it’s been over three years waiting for this fight. It’s been a long, long road. Obviously losing the fight was a big upset to me. It really stalled my career, but I’ve had a lot of fights since then and improved myself in other areas. I always wanted this rematch and I finally get the chance for redemption, and it’s going to be on HBO so there is no better stage for it. I’m feeling really good. I’m only a week and a half away now from getting what I wanted for three and a half years. So I’m feeling good about the fight. continue

Terrible for Eamonn. Like everyone I wish him the best, he's a strong lad and hope he pulls through stronger.

Good draw for the Irish today, Sheahan and Egan have the toughest imo .
Egan has to fight Cuba if Cuba wins its first bout and Sheahan will probably meet Cammranelle if he wins his first fight .

The rest seem like a decnet draw tbh Barnes has a bye to the last 32 were he will probably face Barriga of the Phillipeans who Burnett beat last year and then he faces Shiming of Cina if he wins that in the last 16.

    Just seen the draw

49kg Paddy will meet shiming China in last 16 so hopefully if shiming makes final paddy should qualify. Hey but maybe Paddy fancies Shiming this time but it will be tough.

52kg Michael Conlon have a great shout only selby in his way to the quarters

56kg JJ Nevin get a bye but should qualify with ease

60kg DO Joyce been seeded kept him away from the Russian who will meet in quarter final so has a great shot , he needs to preform under pressure cause he missed out before because he didn't.

64kg Ray Moylette Again this seeding has help our guy again Stalker again in the quarter but maybe a USA guy in last 16 . This guy know how to medal so confident all round

69kg Roy Sheenan well the draw been kind to him again no big names really just the 5th seed china guy on his side

75kg Darren O Neill The seeding is really helping our guys here , Darren should be a big fav to get through his side to qualify to London.

81kg Joe Ward I think Joe goes all the way to the final here and get a first round bye to help him.

91kg Kenny Egan : Kenny will most likely box Jose Larduet cuba in last 32 and he won a bronze at the 2009 worlds in milan at light heavy . So thats a tough one for kenny but at least he moving up weight too. Tough call

91+kg Con Sheehan : Con will meet CAMMARELL Italy (world Champion)in last 16 so it going to be a big big ask for Con in his first championships at 91+kgs

I think we got some great draws there with the seeding, something i wasn't aware of. I think we'll get six qualified to london after this and three medals , for Conlan,Nevin,Ward who might just get a Gold.

TOUGH DRAW FOR BARNES, THANKS TO THE STUPID AIBA RANKINGS, HE PROBABLY HAS TO BEAT SHIMING TO MAKE THE QUARTERS.
Conlan if anything, tougher. He has Selby for a quarter spot, if he overcomes Riscan from Moldova, then a Good Kazakh fighter. He can do it though.
Nevin, seeded 4, has a decent draw, slated to meet the Euro champ Gojan in the quartes eventually, and he has beaten him twice, A good Uzbek in that quarter too.
David Oliver seeded 7(!) has a really nice draw, an Iranian first and can really progress through the rounds.
Moylette, seeded 4 has a Latvian Arthur AHMETOVS first, and a load of good boxers after that on his way to the quarters. Doable.
Roy Sheehan has a decent draw, first against Carl Heild frim the Bahamas and after that no big guns for a while.
O'Neill has Eneste from Norway first and a good quarter with a Kazakh the biggest name.
Ward, seeded two has a few good lads in his quarter but should be fighting Rasulov from Uzbekistan for a bronze.
Kenny Egan has a tough, tough one. Seeded 6 he got a bye but then will probably have the Cuban LARDUET and if he wins that a few other class guys before the last four.
Sheehan too has it hard, even harder probably, KALONOV from Tajikistan first after a bye but then the great Italian Cammarelle, a long wat from the medals.

Yes seeded 8 but Shiming wasn't , probably because i think he's been inactive for a long time . So paddy got unlucky been the seed that got the best boxer in his side.

Lads can any of you clear up how many boxers Britain are allotted to have because of been hosts for the London Olympics.

If a welsh and English boxer Qualifies what the hell happens here and what happens to the position they win if they both can't go to London

England, Scotland and Wales can all send a boxer in each weight to the Worlds but GB can only send one in each weight to the Olympics,
However say if Welby and Yafai both qualify(very possible) I haven't a clue what happens and I bet the IABA dont either.
