Booked tickets for the show in Cork and managed to convince some of my mates to tag along so should be a good evening. I noticed when I was booking the tickets that Neil Sinclair is on the card which is a nice surprise. I'm not expecting any of the opponents to be too testing but you wouldn't expect them to be on a card like this. With that said Mike Perez's competition is meant to be getting stiffer(or said his team have said) so hopefully he'll be matched decently. His first few fights probably were a bit too easy and slightly pointless. Anyway I'll get to see 3 former World Junior champs and several upcoming Irish boxers all for just over 20(yes that's right I went for the cheapest seats), does anyone know what sort of view that will leave me ? Card as(I think) it stands: Neil Sinclair v TBA Gary Sullivan v TBA Mike Perez v TBA Jamie Power v TBA Alexei Acosta v TBA Luis Garcia v TBA Michael Sweeney v TBA Ian Tims v TBA It's going to be a tough night for TBA, especially considering he's fighting in Wolverhampton the night before http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=463663&cat=boxer
:rofl:rofl:rofl, I hope you enjoy the Cork promotion. By the looks of it there's going to be a lot of pro boxing shows in that area with Haye and also Phil Sutcliff running bills now.But big ears, I don't think Sinclair is on the Cork promotion.Going by his monthly article in Irish boxing .com, he states he won't be fighting again until October. http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/august08/august08_sinky_says2.html
Just back from a holiday....what did I miss? only joking. Incredible to have three olympic medalists. Im going to try to get at least one to go to the Supporters club meeting on the 26th!
Ya the word is Sinclair is going to be in the Welterweight prizefighter, and with some big names being thrown about the winner of that will have some great opportunites. Sinclair, Kevin Anderson, Ted Bami, Michael Lomax, Craig Dickson, Jason Cook, Ross Minter and Wille Thompson are some of the names being mentioned and if it shapes up anything like that it'll be some night. It's great that like the last Prizefighter we could have 2 men in this, and it should be a good experience for Thompson who really is the rookie of that bunch.
That's good to hear. I know tons of people are down on him over the Vera incident...but the guy has superb skill, tons of heart and should be a player at 160 barring some massive failure.
**** ....big ears....thats some line up...where did u hear that....i heard hearn is looking 2 bring 1 of his prizefihgter nites to belfast....with 2 irishmen in that line up...it could well b belfast this time:good
Nope it's apparently going to be in a Leisure centre in Cawley. A guy over on boxrec said the following 6 fighters have been confirmed, Michael Lomax Ted Bami Neil Sinclair Craig Dickson Ross Minter Mark Lloyd Willie Thompson is likely to join that lot and the last spot will go to god knows who. If Thompson is part of it, having it in Belfast would be a good idea where they could probably sell out the Kings Hall with a line up like that and two Irishmen. Barry Hearn deserves a lot of credit for this as Prizefighter style tournaments in the past have all failed and yet he is the one to make it a success(or at least the first one was). The next one is Heavyweight again, on the 12th of this month in Newcastle. Chris Burton, Pele Reid, Sam Sexton, Lee Swaby, Dave Ferguson, Darren Morgan, Luke Simpkin and David Ingleby are the 8 fighters that have been named. I presume we'll see 1/2 reserves join that list. I don't reckon it will be quite as good as the first one but it'll still be entertaining enough.
