keith cresham is very bulky, i think he used to be a bodybuilder. it is definitly hindering him.

 

Clay Moyle, author of the Sam Langford book, wrote the following over in the Classic forum.
"I found the following quote by Matt Donnellon on an earlier thread in a Boxrec forum concerning his new book about Peter Maher and a question about why he chose to write about Maher: "I thought i knew boxing and its history reasonably well but 5 years ago I checked out Maher's career and was surprised how little I knew about him. The more I read up on him the more amazed how highly his peers and contempories rated him. I wondered why so i dug a little deeper and this book is the result of 4 years of that digging. Most of the book is based on contempory accounts of his fights etc. What do i hope to accomplish by it? I suppose to rectify this lack of knowledge of a top fighter of the turn of the twentieth century who had a pretty turbulent career and life."
Well, I just wanted to say that I also knew very little about Maher, that is, until I just finished Matt's fine book about the man. His mission for the book was accomplished in my case. I now know a helluva lot more about Maher and have a much greater appreciation for his fighting career. I found the book to be well researched, interesting, and very enlightening. Well done Matt, great piece of work! Of particular interest to me were the many comments from leading fighters of that period concerning Maher's power. Corbett, among a number of others, called him the greatest hitter he'd ever witnessed. Corbett may have been able to box his ears off had the pair ever met in the ring, but it sure sounds as if he had no desire to take a chance on catching one of Maher's deadly right hands. I highly recommend this book!"

 

I was talking to Brian Peters Last night. He said Definitely no Dunne-Munroe fight this year, they're trying to get a mexican in to fight dunne in november and follow it up with a world title fight.

I work for him. He owns a night club in meath. wouldn't be a great inside man unfortunately as i think i've spoken to him twice in a year now, he doesn't be around that much!

Kane vs Corbett on NUTS TV tonight

SKY Channel 196 for us here in Britland - possibly the same for ye.
If ya havent seen it before its a fun piece to watch - Corbett was entertaining at least.

Asked around a bit and I heard Julio Zarate. Zarate lost an IBF eliminator last time out to a South African whose name escapes me now (not Ndlovu). Anyway, the South African is likely to box Molitor around the end of the year.

Dunne fights Zarate who is #3 to get an IBF ranking. This sets him up with Molitor who has long been the choice of champion for Peters in trying to get Bernard a title shot.

So if, and when, Bernard and Molitor come through their end of year fights they would both be ready to fight around March-ish.

By March the Point Depot will be open again and with something like a 10,000 capacity so the weekend before Paddys Day seems the likely target for a Dunne-Molitor world title clash

Thats the latest rumour anyway. How true it is or not I have no idea but thats the latest one doing the rounds.

The more worrying rumour, from a pretty reliable source, is that Bernard has been partying pretty heavily despite supposedly being back in training to build his strength and stamina. Apparently he has been on the gargle a lot over the last month or so. All fine and dandy if you aren't too interested but if you are supposed to be getting yourself primed for the most important 2 fights of your boxing career then it looks very grim
