What percentage of the money would he get to keep I wonder? Let's assume that all 700 were the cheapest tickets (roughly 40 euro each I think). That makes close to 30 grand. Realistically a good portion were probably more expensive tickets. He made a good sum either way by the looks of it
This seems really strange! They keep saying in the media now that he won't be going to London. Surely they (the media) would keep an open mind if there was a wildcard available (especially seeing as he would be a shoe-in for the spot). Don't get me wrong, I hope to god that he gets it if there is one, but it seems very very vague at this moment in time. Would the other losing semi-finalist not get it by the way?
the media arent clued in on everything ..hlf the time they report on boxing they get it wrong anyway dont think it works as simple as that if the losin semifinalist got it then it wouldnt be a wildcard
I'm trying to be extremely sceptical Moorser. It almost seems too good to be true. I hope to god he gets it. Fingers crossed now :good
There are three places left at 81k so one beaten semi finalist will go through and you would imagine the wild card would go to the other beaten semifinalist,If it was an Irish lad beaten in the semis we would be up in arms about a boxer that was beaten in the last 16 getting the shout,Hope he gets it but would be very surprised if he did.
what you just said defeats the purpose of a wildcard if thats the case why would they not just give the 4 places to the semifinalists
That is true but the point still stands that a guy that has reached the last 4 is theoritically more deserving of a shot than a guy beaten in the last 16,i know he has agreat record at major international events but every other country will want their man in aswell and i feel that instead of a big debate and hassle Aiba will decide to send the 4th placed boxer,On the other hand have Great Britain qualified anyone at 81 if not that could be where the place goes to ensure that the host nation has as many boxers there as possible.
Read this lads, not clear but maybe Joe might get it here...... http://www.aiba.org/documents/site1/Olympics/2012London/London 2012_QualificationSystem_EN.pdf
