The only three countries, with boxers at 81,with less than 12 at the 2008 games (av 6 for the last two games) all exceed the limit when you add in 2004, ie Albania (11+7) Macedonia (7+10) and Bosnia ( 5+10). That's what I make of it unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Jeez I hope so! For to-morrow Paddy surely should be too good for the Romanian who boxed last year in the Youth in Dublin with no success but McCarthy has a guy with loads of experience and a win over the Turk who got that "win" over Ward. BTW Joyce's opponent holds two wins over Nolan's man back in 2007/2008 European cadet and junior finals. All can win with Barnes, Nolan, Joyce and Tommy having the easier matches-on paper or should I say monitor screen?!-in that order. Good luck to them all.
i think the four can go on defo...i wonder if ward being so hard done by has galvanised them and gave them an extra will to qualify ..not that you'd think they'd need it
Dee Walsh vs Tommy Tolan fight 'The Battle of the Falls Road' [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRXCt0db-U4&feature=youtube_gdata[/ame]
First time seeing Dee obviously a guy with good skills,a little bit flashy for my tastes though, could have done a better and more clynical job if he had just stuckt o the task instead of playing to the crowd,Still a very skilled young fighter hope he grows out of it cause he could have a very good futuure.
http://www.rte.ie/sport/boxing/2012/0418/317506-four-irish-boxers-continue-olympic-bids-today/ Fingers crossed!
Seems flash alright, but i think its a good thing,we need people like Dee in this game,he can box,he sells tickets and is flash,he just might go a long way!!!!!
the thing is its not even a reprieve ,its something that he may be fully entitled to with a bit of luck
Sorry to pour water on the fire, but doesnt look very likely http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0418/1224314875104.html
leo thats what everryone is saying ...it is still likely that he can qualify he will not be receiving the triprtite invitation the european tripartite invitation should go back to the aiba because no european country qualifies for it Once it goes back to the aiba, they give it to an 81kg boxer, supposedly it goes to the highest ranked boxer who didnt qualify from the worlds in 2011 who is joe ward who ever wrote this article doesnt seem to be 100% aware of the whole situation as matt donnellan pointed out in the last page of this thread ,if you read that it will explain it better to you
Maybe JOHNNY WATTERSON should do his own research and not reley on some programmed clone in the Irish Olymic council who only knows half the facts.
