i agree..i was also disappointed in his attitude ...when he lost 2 degale...but thats all in the past now....thats hope he can b a great box office draw...and he can grab the attention and intereset of the irish public....and i hope this fight is on tv:good

 

after pavliks **** performance last nite....does anyone feel duddy now has a chance against pavlik...

 

Hopkins took him to school but, lets face it, Duddy hasn't got a quarter of the skills B-Hop does. Despite getting beaten from pillar to post Pavlik didn't hit the deck and he stood up pretty well to what was a brutal beating. He couldn't get a glove on Hopkins. He was very gunshy and I thought it was an intersting comment Bunce made that Hopkins does something that stops fighters from going through with their punches. He said Calzaghe refused to tell him exactly what it is. Something in the footwork apparently.

Anyway, Duddy just walks forward in straight lines and blocks punches with his head. A Duddy - Pavlik showdown would be absolutely fantastic to watch for a the few rounds it lasted. The only way Duddy beats Pavlik is if the Hopkins fight has ****ed with Pavlik mentally (the way the Calzaghe fight ****ed up Lacy) and he's not the same anymore. However, if Pavlik is the same man then he stops Duddy around 6-7 with a KO after both men have been down at least twice each.

hugh russell who won an olympic bronze in 1980 and won a lonsdale belt outright as a pro...
i always wondered why his career end so abruptely...he retired after only 4+ years as a pro with a great record i thought...and he was only 25/26..

anyone know much about him ??

I read on box scene that p.williams will face philips in nov. This will problby affect duddy's title aspiration's if it's for the title.

 

What's the story with dunne's next opponent??? It's 3 week's and still no one announced?

 

Yeah I'm pretty tired of this. They always say that his opponent won't be a push over. And in fairness Machado and Marchiano weren't complete dummies. However, if you only get a mid level guy in on 3 weeks notice then you aren't really fighting against a mid level guy. His opponents should have at least 5-6 weeks notice to be at their peak otherwise he is just fooling himself.

A lot of people seem to be of the opinion that Team Dunne have milked him for just about all he is worth and it is time to cash in now. They don't expect him to win a world title shot (given his relative inactivity etc... over the last 2 years) but they want him fighting in the Point in March sold out for one last pay day. And if he wins then great and if he loses then 'what the hell we gave it a shot'

 

hopefully he'll spend more time in philly it's a great boxing city and he could learn a lot there.

 

i agree machado was past his prime, coming off a loss and coming up in weight but he was a cagey dirty fighter. That was an good comeback fight. Marchiano was nothing more than a jouneyman coming off a ko loss at a lower weight albeit to the excellent mabuza. Dunne should fight someone like oliver lochtai. It was a pity the munroe fight didn't come off i thought he would have won that one. The winner would have been in line for a title shot instead the 2 of them are fighting jouneymen. Munroe is fighting a lot of gimme's.

 

Fair play Ardy. I've heard of Russell before but I can't claim to know more about him than I have read in programme notes at other fights. For once it is refreshing to hear of a boxer who knew when it was time to call it a day despite how hard it must have been on him

looking through osin ***ans record...

he's fought julio chavez jr...and not much later fought andrew hartley...thats quite a difference in level of opponent....what the hell was hartley doing in a ring with him...the same ***an who lost a split to Paul Spadafora the world title challenger less than a year later...

i know ***ans no world beater...but half way through his record you shouldnt be finding hartley there...
