you are right about one thing Jonny. It should have been sorted out in house and then a public statement about the show being cancelled made so that so than fans, fighters, officials, journalists etc would know what was going on.

None of that was done. Maria just deactivated her Facebook and then came back on and just deleted the 'Rock n Rumble' page. Professional? Hhmmmm!!

What I don't agree with you about is to say 'its over, forget about'. That's bull****. It's another Maria O'Sullivan **** up production. I personally am pretty tired of her antics and arm waving. The final straw waking up today with a text from a mate saying that I was some sort of coniving Macciavellian figure that was behind the scenes trying to pull the show down.

I've worked hard over the past five years to help promote Irish boxing for little return and I am not going to let go unchecked then you are wrong.

There's ways of doing things and there's ways of not doing things and Maria has mastered the latter.

Sean Turner loss to Anthony Joshua (England) 5-9 was a pretty good performance?

Not a bad result. Joshua is a beast. I understand a well known British based Luxembourg registered promoter already has dibs on him for after the Olympics.

I appreciate all you have done but nobody comes out of this with enhanced reputations especially Irish "professional" boxing.

Thats 2 close fights now he has had with Joshua, he only lost 6-3 last year, Turner definatley has good potential and he is still only 21.

Matt I would be interested in your thoughts on what Irish amateurs (i.e. those not in the Olympic team) would make good pro's if they decided to turn over?

im not having a g at you len. i understand when someone has a go people defend themselves. What i would say this trial by public isnt the way to go about it. Its so typical of the lack of structure in boxing. BUI should be the place to lodge complaints and raise questions- not fb. People feel the need to vent and some are frustrated and rightly so- but there should be a body they can go to- instead of a fb back and fort that makes the the sport look so un profesional

This sounds like a good night:
    ----------------------------------------------------

"An invitation to what promises to be a good night's nostalgia in the Group Theatre next Tuesday - 15th May - at 7:30 pm.

As part of the 150th celebrations of the Ulster Hall, I will be hosting an evening of tales and yarns about the history of boxing at the arena. Starting with the visit of John L Sullivan in 1887 - and not forgetting the night that Sonny Liston came to town in 1963 - the evening will concentrate on the key fights, with tales of glory and bitter defeat along the way.

And who knows? Perhaps we might just solve a few of the outstanding boxing conundrums from the rich history of boxing over the years? For example, what was the worst decision ever witnessed in the hall? What was the greatest wisecrack ever heard in the hall?.. And just who was the greatest boxer ever to grace the ring in the Ulster Hall? ..Indeed, talking of conundrums, perhaps if Jim McCourt and John Rodgers turn up, we could just have a rerun of their infamous 1970 Ulster Senior Final? All will be covered on the night ...

For all this to work of course, we need the input of those who will know - i.e. the boxers, trainers and clubs who have been there, done that and bought the t-shirt!

    I hope Fra doesn't see this.... :hey:hey:hey:hey

Maria Ni Shiuilleabhain Exactly Ardy, Belfast is boxing country. the recession is a huge problem to try and overcome. But the nonsense that goes on behind the scenes is laughable. I even had a well known blogger post that my show was cancelled on my request to boxrec yesterday! In all fairness that's silly behaviour in anyones books! There hasn't been a show sadly since July last year. Please god that will change soon.

Ardy Pajo Hyland won last night and Lee could be middleweight champ soon, also Henry Coyle will most likely his defend his title in castlebar this summer, so all is not lost in the south of our country. In Belfast we have Frampton, Conlan, Lindsay, Wilton and maybe Paul McCloskey all hopefully fighting for titles soon. And there is a possibility that Magee could be fighting for a version of the super-middleweight title in Belfast. So plenty to look forward to.

Maria Ni Shiuilleabhain Exactly they are superb world talents, but they are in America and Belfast is UK boxing. I think youre missing the point Ardy!

Fairly sure she meant boxing in belfast is under the bbb of c rather than the BUI but far be it from me to stop an arguement
