Less than 2 weeks to Andy Lees big world title fight and i was thinking of the absolute uproar when Willie was fighting Rigo and there was no coverage, Politicians presenters and Grannies were up in arms for rte to show a fight that lets face it we all knew Willie (god bless him) had very little chance of winning, I dont know but i reackon Andy has a very good shot at this one and i think it would be a disgrace if our national stations didnt carry it. Buying the rights from the US companies would cost a fraction of the costs for the city west disaster. I just find it a bit strange that there is this indiffrence for our best current pro boxer (personal opinion) and a belter of a lad aswell.
The Euro's are a big distraction, that's why he's been forgotten about. Pity the fight is not a month later.
i suppose but if he comes back with the belt, they will be kissing his arse to be on every show known to man and derek davis
Ffs, it's 2012, like. Can Irish telly not have the euros and an Irishman in a legitimate title fight on the same day? It's not as if the times will conflict. Sure, when Andy wins, and I believe he will, it'll be a great shot in the arm for the whole of Ireland.
Torch lights boxers' emotions Wayne McCullough and Michael Carruth got emotional as the Olympic torch crossed the Irish border. June 6, 2012 11:05am Sky Sports Wayne McCullough to carry Olympic torch tomorrow World Boxing News
I'd say Box Nation are a good shout to show the Lee fight. They have shown Chavez in the past and generally pick up Top Rank feeds. Plus they televised Magee-Markussen and Casey's latest fight. There's hope yet.
