Could have went either way. Just glad to see glory for one of our own again though! Too much disappointment lately. What's next for spike folks?
117-111 was bull**** but a lot of those rounds were close, so its not inconceivable that Spike could have got the nod for nearly every round. Fair play to him for grinding it out, but he doesn't look big enough or powerful enough to hang with the bigger names at Middleweight.
I had it by one to Spike. Wouldnt have grumbled if Matty got it. Spikes tactics were dreadful. Fought straight into Halls hands. 117-111 was extremely harsh.
Entertaining fight in fairness. Close one that could have went either way. Spike probably learned more from tonight's fight than he would have done from his previous 14.
Am I mistaken or did I just see Brabazon getting dropped in the background of Groves's interview there? :-(
Tough opponent for his debut, think that guy beat Fitzgearld a while ago also being the swing bout on ur debut wouldn't help your warm up etc but I've heard of loads of fighters debuts being swing bouts
lads Jamie won tonight ud all 3 judges scored it 80-72 , he took a few late on but controled the fight and worked well on the inside and hurt valdera with body shots
i agree with that, had it even after the 10th,Spike just won the 11th for me but you could argue a shared round and I gave spike the 12th handy enough so depends how you see the 11th either a 1 pt or 2 pt win,Still he is talking about a first defence in Cork and that would be great, wasnt overly impressed by his peformance but in a "championship fight" it all about the win. Must say the commentators were brutal.
