Well Katie, obviously.. Underwood and Jonas are the two I didn't want her to come up against in her first fight, but since Underwood is gone and she just beat Jonas, she has to win it now. I've always fancied Michael Conlon to do the job. That fella is a fantastic Boxer. And Paddy Barnes wont roll over and I reckon he will get at least Silver. The Mexican lad was a tough one for Nevin and he Boxed superbly, but he's up against a Cuban now so.. Either way, we've got two Bronze's now and I reackon Barnes and Conlon could also medal.. wether its Bronze, Silver or Gold. I was never confident in O'Neill at thought Nolan would surprise a few people, but I have so much confidence in our 4 other fighters now. Éire Abú.
We're so lucky to have Taylor. She's inspirational. I know she'll remain grounded if she wins gold. I'd ride her too. Just sayin.
I have just watched the Taylor fight, I sky+'d it as I was working this afternoon. What great fight - that really should have been the final. The Liverpool lass fought really bravely and for the first two rounds was in the fight, but Taylor showed how class she was and won convincingly. My reservations about hometown cooking was off - thank God. And what an amazing atmosphere! Brilliant! Congratulations Katie Taylor - she is going to be a massive, massive star after these Games.
well done too katie world class performance if only we had more like her in saying that the job is not done yet and as we all know boxing is a funny old sport just hope she can bring home the gold because i dont think she will settle for any thing less ... heard that she will be leaving the sport after the games anyone know if there is any truth in it ???
There was an article in the paper a few months ago with her dad sayin if they got the gold she might retire. And in another article with Katie sayin she had no interest in goin pro. She say's she probably make more money through endorsments than the pro fighters. But both of these were in The Star.
yeah its just going to be one of them wait and see things i guess,, if she dose win gold she wont have any problem getting endorsements i reckon she will probably get a job the presenting on RTE or something like that,,, im sure she will always be involved with the sport in someway
To be honest, I'd rather she did retire from Boxing if she wins.. she's won everything and beat everyone, it's better to burn out than fade away. I agree 100%, if she retires from fightin she'll almost certainly be involved in Boxing someway. Maybe help out her dad in the gym. She's a tremendous Boxing person and should be involved.
