Pump the jab in his face and a high work rate - Cuban is slick but lazy. Conlan is fit enough to do this.

Totally disagree with you IB!! Conlan had way more clean punches whereas Oubaali was just hitting arms, gloves etc...

Should be a great fight in the semi against the Cuban!

Thought Conlon deserved it. It was close but Conlon was catchin him with that right hook all night. He was takin a couple of shots but to say he didn't deserve it is bollox. The right call fightin southpaw, the French lad couldn't get away from that right hook and was tired in the second and absolutely bolloxed in the third. Conlon deserved it..

Thought Conlon won the fight.I honestly thought he lost the first by 2 points and won the second by 1 point and won the last by 2/3 points but is it only me or did billy and Zuar pick the less effective tactic of in close and rolling and hooking. Now dont get me wrong fair play to them and mick because it worked it just looked a some what harder fight than it could have been.

I was nearly wincing in horror when I heard them saying it, there was nothing wrong with him utilising rolling under Oubaali's left hook and catching him with a right hook, but they basically told him that's all he had to keep doing to win the fight !

Especially when he had just ended the 2nd round switching things up, fighting at times from distance, throwing the Frenchman off guard and catching him with good shots. In the end staying inside and repeatedly rolling under and exchanging hooks with Oubaali did work, cause it tired him out and let Conlon be able to pick him off with some easy shots near the end, but imo tactically it wasn't the right choice.

But we've had what, about 11 Irish fights at this game now ?, if the coaches only got something a bit wrong in one of them we're not doing too bad, especially if it still worked out.

    Its all about golds! 4 golds> 1 gold and 5 silvers :D

Ogogo and Joshua both had clear losses already IMO!

I agree it worked well in the end but I just thought long range would have been a more effective tactic but fair play to the team the game plan worked :good

Conlon should not go for the high work rate in my honest opinoion. The Cuban scored most of his points last night on counters. Conlon should practically refuse to throw the first punch on the Cuban if you ask me. By being patient and letting the ref warn them to start boxing and just waiting and waiting he will take the cuban out of his comfort zone. What would leave the cuban in his comfort zone would be to go attacking with a high work rate. I honestly think the coaches should see that from last nights fight.

I thought they were the right tactics to be honest. If he stayed at range there was a very good chance the French lad could have swarmed over Conlon. Admittedly the tactics used last night were risky aswell but they were saying in the studio last night that Conlon used that way of fighting against before and it worked so why change a winning formula against an opponent.

    Katie Taylor! :happy:happy:happy

For the record, I wouldn't have complained had the French guy got the nod against Conlan. It was an incredibly tight affair.

Ochigava looked **** in her semi. Rematch of the world championship final now against Taylor. Could be another tight, technical affair

Katie can fight technical if she wants but if the Russian takes a lead going into the 4th round I'm confident Katie will put the foot down on unleashing bunches of fast har combo's which will present a whole new challenge.
