See i always thought he was too but i go to uni with a girl from holywood and he apparantly is a catholic, there could be a mixed marraige in there with his parents, not 100% sure though.
just googled it lol http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/o...-never-drive-a-wedge-between-us-16127109.html appears to be a catholic but acts more like a protestant
McIroy is a catholic unionist, whatever the **** that is, an oxy-moron if ever I heard one. All his friends are prods so I suppose he just goes with the flow
McIroy is mostly refered to as Brittish and Conlon and Barnes- Irish. If its a matter of choise then he must of shuned Ireland in Favour of England. Credit to Conlan and Barnes.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and give my 2 cents on Nevin's fight. People are not gonna agree with me but I think it's important to express my opinion. Ok, John Joe didn't perform very well and a knockdown was scored in the last, so it seems outrageous to call the result a robbery. Nobody has done, and everyone seemed ok with the result. Except me!! I do not think that he lost the first round by 2. If the telly was on mute and people weren't swayed by the crowd, it was a drawn round. The second was fair enough scoring - JJN possibly won by more. The third really annoyed me. How in the name of god did campbell score 5 points? I think when people look back over the next few years they will see that John Joe was relatively hard done by. After all, it seemed to take a few years for Egan's 2008 final result to kick in. Disappointment soon turned to anger. Everyone was watching Nevin's fight half accepting that GB boxers are favoured. That, added to John Joe's underwhelming performance, made the result seem ok. I just genuinely believe that if we were to watch it all over again, Nevin scored more cleaner shots. No1 will probably agree with me. I might seem biased and a bit ridiculous. But I genuinely think that's how the fight went...
No, he's definitely catholic. But he doesn't call himself Irish or British, he calls himself Northern Irish..
He's referred to as British by the Brits. He calls himself Northern Irish. Sure the Brits said in one of their papers after she won gold, that she was British.
He doesn't represent Britain either. Infact, he represented Ireland in the Golf World Cup with Graham McDowell.
Don't really care if McIlroy is Catholic, Protestant, British or Irish Northern Irish. All I know is that I think he's a cúnt (forgive my Jonnytightlips language).
