Irish Boxing

I didn't see that fight so I can't comment. I know he can be good on his night but his last couple of performances have been a bit suspect.

I tried to find some kind of common form guide between Leuvano and Dunne. The best I can put together is

Dunne PTS 10 Voronin 96-94 (Dunne was cruising until he got caught in the 10th and dropped the round 10-7)
Cook PTS 12 Voronin 118-109 / 115-111/ 116-110 (EBU Fw Title)
Leuvano KTFO 11 Cook (WBO Fw title)

Dunne was 10 at Sbw in the last WBO rankings so I presume they could put together the match with Leuvano.

The more obvious choice would be to go after Cristobal Cruz who is a sitting duck in that division IMO. However, since Dunne didn't get the match with and then beat Lontchi or Garcia in his last fight he won't have a sufficient IBF ranking in all likelihood.

What I'm worried about now is that Dunne will let Peters go off on a tangent all for the sake of running his mouth. He is on the verge of fighting for a world title (how much of a chance he has of winning depends on his opponent) but if he's not careful things could go off the path and he might end up missing the boat and regretting it forever.

I know I'd certainly rather have fought for a world title and lost than never have gotten a shot at all.

 

Thanks ardy, I always enjoy the prizefighter and its good to have an Irish fighter to cheer on during the event, although I did not know anything of Rea before, I do do now:thumbsup

 

the thing is dunne has the beatings of munroe r kiko ...so i wouldnt b 2 worried about him 2 settle it once and 4 all with these 2 ...a big world title fight mid 2009 is still possible after beating those 2:good

 

Hello lads, Does anyone know when andrew murray will be out again? Or any speculation going around . His career doesnt really seem to be catching fire. I would love to see him in the euro mix

 

murray was meant 2 fight ***an for the irish title...but now ***an is fighting khan...so that will b put on hold pending the outcome of that scrap...as i said b4...i think peters is ****ing up the careers of quit a few of his boxers...he is failing 2 deliver the big fights:good

 

Dunne Martinez is always 50/50 at best. Bernard just doesn't have the punch resistance to ever be assured of anything. Sure he has way more skill than Martinez but one good bang could close the show. Just look at how Faccio wobbled him in the 6th last time around

 

Molter ktfo by Caballero and with him goes any chance Dunne has of winning a world title at 122lbs.atsch

 

I watched the Molitor-Caballero fight. Man against a boy. He just gave him a beating from the first bell. Molitor was nervous and was just bouncing off the ropes and taking a hiding. Caballero looked very, very strong.

Agree with Puca. There is no belt waiting for Dunne at 122 anymore. He should be gunning for Cruz or Leuvano.

i dont think dunne and peters were actually gunning for a world title, they know its beyond reach and bernards chin durability

they want the ebu title so they can sell out the point a few more times and make some more cash

 

Its hard to know what Peters wants.One week he says one thing, another week he says something completely ,hes crazy man:nut

 

Dunne wants a world title crack. There is absolutely no doubt about that whatsoever. He wants a go at a title.

Peters seems to be a totally different story. Now I know people in his position are out to make money. At this stage Bernard has netted him a nice few quid. Between the two of them they brought boxing back to the mainstream here. Peters now has a few decent level fighters on the go and the scope for plenty of shows here in the future.
It looks now as if he has stopped looking out for Bernards interests as much as he used to. Some might say that he is doing Bernard a favour if he avoids putting him in for a world title but if the lad wants a go at a title (and a match can be made) then surely he has earned the right to have one. Yeah maybe he well find out the hard way that he is not up to the task but **** it, let him have his shot.

He can always come back down to EBU level afterwards anyway

 

Rea got put out of prizefighter tonight by Murray in his first fight.
