:conf Never had any use for any religion myself, and I don't habitually single out Catholicism...it just catches most attention being the primary branch of Christianity and therefore biggest sect in Western civilization - and, topically, is the state creed of Argentina, which is how it came up in the conversation here to begin with. Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Mormonism, Scientology, Hari Krishnas, Buddhism - all equally silly IMO. Any extra 'chip on my shoulder' regarding the Papists has to do with the fact that, like you lot in Eire, my home of Boston also happens to be home to a large and long-standing population of Catholics (owing to its early Irish working class roots) and so it was the brand of religion to which I was most exposed and had the most attempts to 'convert' me done in the name of, for which my slight resentment pales in comparison to my - and everyone's - horror at the cover-ups of the local diocese of all the choir boy diddling that went on for so long until very recently...which the Vatican itself did nothing about but to shuffle the perpetrators around, relocating them into communities full of fresh unawares victims! atsch Anyway, I digress... "The Church" has done quite a bit of harm in poorer sections of the world by advocating that unwed young (even teen or preteen) girls should err on the side of having children they can't provide for - which serves my original point. That, and standing in the way of things like gay marriage - which, however 'icky' you may feel or unruffled your hetero sensibilities may be towards people of the same gender doing the dirty, at the end of the day it really is none of anyone's business what anyone else does behind closed doors and it certainly is never the place of any of us to castigate another person's jollies as "sinful" (except of course in situations other than involving consenting adults; ie ****, child molestation or bestiality) make it a burdensome old institution that really needs to just **** off already so we can finally escape its medieval influence.
dont knock wat u havent tried ... theres plenty of hadsome sheep in the fields of county down... that have been serviced by moi:tdh ... its a snug fit my boyo:good
Very clever post, after the first couple of words I was sure you were speaking of religion and was about to roll my eyes when the rest of it gave me a proper belly laugh. :thumbsup
Oi Oi Oi, speaking of "social progress", Ireland is as far behind in that area as anywhere else in the world when it comes to certain attitudes, as this thread even proves
seriously though my father is very religious... during his time in prision particularly during the hunger strike and dirty protest his spiritual awareness rose 2 a level that he hasnt come back from... i always make the joke an armalite in 1 hand and a set of rosary beams in the other [ if your confused this is a play on the famous danny morrison speech about the armalite in 1 hand and a ballot box in the other]...i tend 2b open in these matters... though im yet 2 experience this spirituality.. maybe 1 day :good
FYI IB 100 years ago a term in common usage here in Europe was to describe a wealthy person as being "As rich as an Argentine". So historically you are quite right. Like Eire their problem is not that they lack resources, but rather corruption and lack of leadership. Right now though - as we speak - their economy is tanking faster than LSC getting nailed by a Frampton bomb! None of this does me any good though - boxing taking place in a broke -ass banana republic in the northern hemisphere can only be seen on TV in another broke-ass banana republic in the southern hemisphere!! Crazy stuff.
Catholic church full of peados and odd balls **** the lot of them ****s should be burned. Anyway back to boxing best of luck to Luke Keeler tomorrow ill be there hope its a good night .
:good Good lad, here I was half expecting you to come at me with some feeble protest about how their economy 'imploded' or something along those melodramatic lines back at the century's turn. (which really was no greater a crisis than, say, our mini-depression...only seeming a bit more drastic because of all the protests, but really that was a mere few years' worth of unrest spoiling what has otherwise been nigh 40 years of steady rebuilding and even flirtations with prosperity since the horrible 1970's...) So well done refraining from that. As for its economy currently tanking, IMO you are overselling that as much as you are Leo's reaction to Carl's best shots. Having said all that, you are 100% correct - it really is bonkers that an Irish boxing card is only viewable in Argentina...but you could've said that without having a dig about how 'broke' they are.
Holy ****, even I hadn't gone that far. (unless you meant just the paedos, in which case yes absolutely) Varg Vikernes, is that you? :blood (love your early work :ldevil. later stuff got a bit self-indulgent...)
I take it you don't have a very high view of Marriage and se xuality, but i do. Marriage and se xuality were created by GOD and given to mankind as gifts for our benefit. "A man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh" (Gen. 2:24) The love between a man and women is designed to call new life into existence: the given of life Se xuality has two aspects: the procreative (bringinng forth children) and the unitive (strenghining the union of the couple) Gay unions are not life given Gay se x is not procreative and that's not life given in the most literal and important sense of the term. The nature of sodomy contributes to the problem among homo males. The rectum is not designed for for se x. It is very fragile. Indeed it's fragility and tendency to bleed is one factor making anal se x such an efficient way of transmitting the AIDS, hep and many various other STD's, so the health statistics are clear. Any se xual behaviors that cut longevity almost in half before AIDS virus came on the scene are DEATH DEALING, NOT LIFE GIVING. The longevity and disease numbers speak for themselves, so do the physchiatric and drug abuse numbers, likewise the promiscuity statistics suggest that homo activity is not providing much fulfillment to it's practitioners. If it were they would not feel the need to have se x with armies of strangers. Statistics make it very clear that gay behavior is not enhancing anyones inner well-being; in that sense too it is anything, but life given. Gay marriage isn't social progressiveness and you don't need to be a theoligan, nor even religious to understand that any form of behavior that cuts a persons longevity in half and comes with a lengthy list of veneral diseases is simply not right. This behavior kills people. People should live. But homo behavior kills homo's. That's not right. Homo's need to live just like everyone else. You don't need to be the Pope to see that. 'Gay marriage' empties Marriage of it's meaning. And that will tend to weaken Marriage even further, which will further increase the divorce rate and maximize divorce related misery. Society has a lot to lose from legalizing 'gay marriage'. And gay people have nothing to gain. TO HELL with gay marriage :deal
Major load of bollocks there (no homo ), every last word. I am married (to a woman ) with a kid, FYI...but if queers want to bum each other and bull dykes want to nosh on & fist each other, hey, good on them. I don't give a ****. They are hurting nobody, and if your invisible daddy in the sky was really up there frowning down in disapproval he would be a miserable SOB worth disobeying anyhow.
