At some stage, a match-up between Duddy/Lee is inevitable. We all know the odds are stacked heavily against Duddy defeating Pavlik [although if John can explode a few hooks on Pavliks chin, then who knows], and if Duddy loses against Pavlik then Duddy/Lee is liable to happen, before Lee challenges Pavlik. Although I dont believe a Lee or Pavlik victory over Duddy is the formality that some pundits will think it will be.

I was at the show last night and was impressed by both McCloskey (a fellow county man) and Lee. I do think however that Emanuel Steward is putting unnecessary pressure on Lee when he states that he will beat Kelly Pavlik before the end of the year. Lee is undoubtedly a fine prospect with the potential to win a world title down the line - maybe towards the end of next year. Lee is young and still learning his trade - what is the rush. I just don't see what Manny's angle is other than an early cash grab.
I think it's all hype and spin from Manny. I can't see Lee fighting Pavlik for at least another year, no matter what "tale" Manny is telling. What did you think of Perez the Cuban heavy? And Fra, constructive critism never hurt anyone. I think Lee is a great prospect and I truly hope he does as well Manny is predicting.
Ardy - I didn't see the Perez fight - I was queuing for the loo and when I got back the fight was over. I take it he was fairly impressive.
I take it, you will be going to Letterkenny in March for McCloskey's next fight.I think Paul is headlining that promotion, and it's live on RTE.Would you have any idea where they would hold a large boxing event up there.
fra, the problem with this fight was the opposition just wasn't good enough to throw Lee any sort of test except how to run down a runner. There is no doubt Lee can get some ping off his punches, but Falliga can't be any sort of yardstick, he hasn't been knocked over before but that speaks more of the quality of his opposition than it does for Lee when you're speaking of the world stage. New Zealand and Australia gets fighters from Argentina when they are looking for a lower level of comp. Lee needs more seasoning and better competition if he's going to compete at higher levels, and maybe another 18months work.
i kinda get what you and ardy mean... although outside of getting cut...lee seemed flawless to me... but he needs to step up his opposition..if he is to fight pavlik in september:hi: :happy :bush
wow ardy...going by that article...dunne wont be training in belfast anymore...it might help to get him back on line....but is micky ward a good coach:huh :huh
I dont know if he is a good coach, but I guarantee he would get Dunne into top shape. Maybe Ward's attitude would rub off on Dunne and he would stop being so cocky.
I'm based in Galway so it's a good trek to Letterkenny, however if there is a half decent undercard I'll probably make the journey and stay with my folks. I thought Paul boxed very cleverly last night but would like to see him offload with his left more often.
Hi mickrick, I live in Belfast, so Letterkenny is a bit of a hike for me also, but I wont totally discount going.I also think McCloskey was very impressive, a European title shot beckons.
