Nothing ridiculous here. Blackwell is fit, tough, great engine, has a heart and a chin and plenty of ability, no physical weaknesses etc. He wouldnt let Andy alone and over 12 he would grind Andy down. How would Andy win? How?
Newsflash Fra - domestic level is what Andy is. Nothing wrong with that. - These days there are some really good domestic middles( Ryder, Blackwell, Spike, Macklin? Murray, CEJ etc etc). Andy is in good company there. Seriously- what has Korobov achieved in the pros to put him ahead of ANY of those guys? What?? Im waiting....???
By outboxing him? Andy wasn't a good amateur by accident and has good long range boxing skills and solid timing you know....Blackwell is limited
I know he is limited. Im not suggesting that Blackwell is the second coming of Hagler BJ. By no means. But he is very solid all-rounder who IS better than his record suggests. Dont be too sure Andy 'outboxes' him either. He didnt 'outbox' such luminaries as Horta, Fitz etc..and young Nicholas is AT LEAST as good as them, no? You mention Andys amateur record - true, years ago over 3 rounds Andy was good. So what? Remember the legendary amateur career of Korobov? I rest my case....
wat has ur domestic level fiters done only fite each other at their level... which is much inferior to lees:good
By massively outpointing him? Probably catching him at some point and taking him out? Pretty much anyway Andy wants I would say. Blackwell went life and death against Nathan King FFS!
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it does it make a noise? Winners? Something old, something new! Irvine McKay Conlon Fitzpatrick Moylette or any of four others, great weight class! Nolan O'Reilly Sheahan O'Neill Sheehan No Ward, Barnes or JJ Joyce.
Andy would have to do better than throw 25 punches a round - 90% of them jabs, to beat Blackwell, never mind what would be coming back at him from super-fit super-tough Nick. Blackwell UD 12.
Irvine is absolutely class, he'll grow a lot bigger to, might end up at 60kg one day. his boxing skills are second to none, smooth as silk. Surprised Moylette hasn't won more than one national title, because he has the talent, he's just the most inconsistent boxer ive ever see in the nationals! Though Dean Walsh has looked much impro ed recently and Ross Hickey will always do some damage. i think it will be Sean McComb's year this year, what with DOJ gone. Himself and Fitzpatrick will be another intriguing battle though. 69kg is thrown wide open with Donnelly not entering, not sure who'll win that one. Conor Coyle vs Michael O Reilly is the matchup to watch at 75, should be fireworks.
Andy would win every round against Blackwell if he took him seriously, he would out box him and stop him mid rounds handy.
Not excited by this years seniors with so many big names not entering like Barnes, Phelan, DOJ, Donovan, Donnelly, Ward and Steven Ward. Strange that there is such a bad turnout considering its an Olympic qualifying year maybe all good excuses though like injury etc. Anyway my picks for what there worth Myers Dalton Conlon Cully Moylette (if he turns up) Johnny Joyce (next big thing) O'Reilly McGlinchey Sweeney Sheehan
