You're new to posting. Probably new to boxing too. Let me explain how this works, kiddo. I post something about boxing. You agree - and then you shut up. But before you log off, do tell us what exactly the much-feared Matty did to 'earn his mandatory' as you put it. Good boy. :smoke
There you have it folks - the combined wisdom of toolhugger! :tired His 53rd post ..and what a classic it is! :silly
Gary sweeeny out aswell and surprise surprise hoping to box in WSB in two weeks, Stephen Donnelly the same, At least Sir Patrick had the stones not to pretend, If these lads dont enter they shouldnt be considered for the european games or world championships later in the year, IMO they are choosing the WSB route to the olympics and fair play to them ill support them in that, but if it doesnt work out they should not be allowed come back the traditional route in the place of somebody that has entered and won our national championships,
I know its off-topic but doctors who ***** their 'services' like this really are low-lifes IMO. As you say, the same quack will (for another wedge of dosh of course) happily declare him 'fit' next week for WSB. Cha-chiiiing!! Sorry rant over!
Have to agree, these boxers think they are bigger than the championships. As you say they shouldnt be considered for any of the major tournaments, its only fair.
The IABA themselves should schedule the championships clear of WSB activity as well. The boxers are caught in a classic delimna but it's true that the championships are devalued.
Reminds me of the English championships where none of the top boxers go Iaba own fault should have had it around Xmas . Can DOJ and ward not compete in the championships even if they wanted to? Heard on 4thumps that Iaba cut a deal with aiba that means they can still compete at world and euros etc
The thing is Marty they are been told by the high performance not to enter these championships,i heard that from the horses mouth, Being the senior champion of ireland is THE highest reward any boxer can get IMO but high performance dont get grant money for that, only international competitions,so they encourage their cash cows not to enter in case they have an off night and are beaten,
its on the IABA website, bout 90 i'd reckon. Closed now. Ward, Barnes and Conlon would have been near cert's with DOJ a big favourite and Donnelly maybe 50/50, so perhaps that's half the champs undervalued, at the very least they should have to box off the champs for places in the big international events, no question or we are locking out non-high performance fighters.
Chris Phelan and Steven Ward out but think thats down to injury, 2 of them would of been big favorites in there divisions, Ward was robbed last year imo and Phelan the champ the last few years, bit disappointing that it has low entry but will still be a good show no doubt.
