With Duddy's inactivity and uncertainty surrounding his career he will quickly slip down the rankings - he is going to miss a huge opportunity unless he gets his **** together in a hurry

 

i think the dispute with irish ropes will hurt him...although he has been badly handled since the eastman fight:good

lol!! I was thinkin the same meself. I was forever ****in swearing and hate when people tell me stop - but I thought it was pretty incongrous to hear Peters swearing away - ****in haunting tribal **** man!!

Mike Perez' opponent is Alex Mazakin, a Ukrainian with a 13(3)-2-1 record.

Luis Garcia's opponent is Mantas Tarvydas, a Lithuanian with a 15(10)-5(2) record.

Alexei Acosta's opponent is a tomato can, because he is getting over a niggling injury.

Fair play to manager Gary Hyde, Garcia'a opponent is a brave one for a lad who has only had one pro fight. Although Garcia gave Carl Froch a few things to think about while sparring for Jean Pascal. Word around the campfire is that he is a bit special - could even go all the way to the top.

I had a superb interview with Spike O'Sullivan tonight. He has that nasty, nasty streak that will be a real asset on his journey to the top. Straight from the Fritzie Zivic handbook. Shall be up on Cormac's site in a day or two.

There has been talk of James Moore v Henry Coyle for the Irish Light-Middleweight title when Jamie Moore vacates. Spike would fight either one of them tomorrow - would be two mouthwatering small-hall fights, methinks.

Agreed, I think this will be a good small-hall show. Talking to Kieran Joyce, he freely admits amateur boxing is his passion, but Bethnal Green shows down through the years have inspired him.
He wants to recreate that for the show - only around 800 or so capacity. The school in Youghal is perfect, plus there'll be a good-natured but passionate crowd from East Cork. Hopefully it'll go well.

Spike will be fighting in Boston or Florida in March - according to his manager Pascal Collins, it will be for an intercontinental title. Dunno who the boxing org it is though. He's gonna be getting quality sparring with Jamie Moore in the coming weeks though. The sparring was one thing I was worried about, but it seems to be coming right.

Lads, you should see the condition of Michael Sweeney at the minute...He's in the best shape of his life up with John Breen and Eamonn Magee. They'll be in his corner for the St Valentines Day IBF Featherweight title undercard in France - I think he's one to look out for in 2009. A lovely fella to boot.

Hopefully one of our TV stations will buy the rights to it - it will mean Art Pelullo shows regularly (with titles at stake) on our TV screens from the States, France, South Africa and Brazil, with Irish fighters on all the undercards. Sweet!

I agree with you fra this is a quality promotion, none of that record padding bull**** that's usually on undercard's. mazikin is a live one and has been in with bidenko, solis and a few other prospect's. Good agressive matchmaking i like it. I heard a lot of good thing's about spike o' sullivan i think he might be able to beat james moore right now. Coyle-o'sullivan would be a WAR!!!

 

I'd agree with you, Fra, if I hadn't talked to him in person tonight. It's like talking to Tony Montana - he has that Hagler-like menace about him, and the raging ambition to boot. I saw him hitting the bag tonight - Christ, he hits with frightening power. Ferocious enough to make me believe he can make it if given the right guidance.

Sandwedge, I'm with you on the matchmaking. Gary Hyde is looking for Perez to make a real statement this year. He's sparring in Glenn McCrory's place at the moment.

Mazakin's record is not bad at all - a draw with Airich when he was being touted as the big prospect was one that stood out for me.

And although Luis Garcia's opponent is on a losing streak, it's still nice to see a manager taking a brave gamble in putting in a virtual rookie with a 20-contest fighter.

 

Jaysis, I almost forgot an juicy little nugget - Spike says he is eligible to fight for a British title through his mother's roots.
