Calzaghe never signed to fight Froch, was one week away from the fight, and then pulled out scared.

Comparing Collins' ducking of Calzaghe to Calzaghe/Froch is shameful. And you know it.

Calzaghe would have beaten Collins and Froch on the same night.

Irish-American heavyweight champs . (modern rules)

    1. John L. Sullivan ( Mother's name Kelly) both parents emigrated from Ireland ...Father, (Michael) from Kerry.

    2. James J. Corbett ...Father from Mayo ( I'm pretty sure)

    3. James Joseph (" Gene') Tunney...born in Greenwich Village NYC ...Pretty certain Father was an Irish immigrant , maybe both parents.

    4. James 'Jimmy' Braddock ...Born in New Jersey of 'London' Irish immigrant Father, not sure about Mother.

Al this is probably on wiki anyway :p

2 great contenders of the Corbett era were both Irish born...

'Sailor' Tom Sharkey (Waterford, I think)

    Peter Maher

And the last I heard, German- Americans were the most numerous. ( that's probably on wiki too....just don't feel like looking it up:hi:

Oh, I am interested in history, Sensitive Susan. Let me tell you a thing or two...

The Irish whine and cry about how their lands have been invaded and they are treated badly by the British. But the truth is that the Irish were far worse in history.

The Welsh word for an Irishman is "Gwyddel". This comes from the Old Welsh word "Guoidel" which means 'pirate' or 'raider'.

In fact, the word "Gaelic" is itself derived from the Welsh for 'pirate' or 'raider'. Think about that next time you call yourself Gaelic!

After the Romans left Britain the Irish couldn't raid, **** and pillage enough.

Even St Patrick was a Welsh boy who the Irish stole as a slave.

:conf NBC only has a half an hour slotted. That leaves time for DeGale vs. Dirrell, maybe a bit of commentator studio gab, and maybe (pushing it) Rodriguez vs. Baker, definitely nothing left over for Spike.

Look mate - you're Welsh. From Wales. .....Wales!
I'd say something if you came from a proper country - practically any other north west European country will do. A German could lecture us, a Swede, an Austrian, etc etc
But if Ireland has ANY competitor for the title of north west Europes biggest sh!thole its your Taffy-gaff ffs. Wales is really just a province of England, not even a province - more like a county. Its the British forum you should be on, not here. The people on here are Irish. Irish people just arent interested in Wales. (Irish people arent interested in Ireland either, but thats another story) Nobody cares, mate. Give over. :hi:

Dont complain ---> our Welsh friend has achieved the impossible - united the Irish! There's never been such solidarity on here. :p

I see Nevin got off lightly, with just a fine for his recent misbehaviour - sympathetic judge I guess. Wonder if its for the best though - maybe in the long term some 'tough love' might have been better for JJ? Doubt he will have learned his lesson from this.

Admitedly a 'criminal' conviction would probably have cost him access to the US but.....

Embarassments a bit harsh, come on like this is heavyweight boxing, he was caught with a good right hook and then tried to engage then was sparked with the second right hook, never seen it coming on the turn..in saying that I never thought he was good enough to challenge for the world title.. great skills but has a bad attitude to training and never seemed fully conditioned before either ... a long way back for him now if even... is hard to promote and not many will be lining up to fight him either though even after seeing him ko'd
