Ciaran Healy has been replaced by Martin Kukuls as Jamie Power's opponent. Shame, but a fella who doesn't get KO'd many times. Let's hope Jamie does a number on him and gets him out early.

It turns out that Alexei Acosta's opponent is the twin brother of the fella I had in originally. He is named Laurentieu, not Laurent, and is a debutant.

Myself and Paddy will have the craic - I think we could have a good night of quality boxing. Here's hoping.

    This is some thread!

Sweeney seems like a good story. What happened with John Breen? Wasn't he supposed to be training in Belfast? He was training with Sean Mannion at the start of his career I think.

This is a good move by Egan, i think i read in one of the papers recently that he was going signing up Paul McCloskey too. Strange that McCloskey would leave Peters at this stage.

It seems Sweeney has changed his mind about his training preparation.

As far as I know, McCloskey is still being managed by Peters, unless there is other news on this.

For god sake retire Wayne. Enough with your nonsense already. It would be a terrible fight for Irish boxing. Think about it.

If Wayne manages to win it gives him the misguided notion he still has the goods and you know how governing bodies love his box office style so he might even get a world title tilt. Just to get another ****ing pummelling from a world champ. He seems a nice lad but he will end up seriously damaged if he keeps on. Also add to that the fact that a loss would completely derail Dunne's career.

On the flip side if Dunne wins it counts for nought. Beating McCullough won't get him any title shots or show up on anyones radar because McCullough is yesterdays man. Also it would be awful to watch Wayne as just a pale shadow of his former self.

No thank you very much. It might be a big night out for joe soap Irish sports fan but it wouldn't be good for the sport.

I agree with you on this, the only thing this would prove is the sham professional boxing can be at times. Any promoter or manager who would consider this obviously would have neither Dunne or McCullough's best interests in mind.
Dunne would win this easily imo but like you say, what would it prove?
I feel sorry for McCullough though, he was such a great boxer and done a lot for Irish boxing but it is time for him to hang up the gloves.

You do have to feel sorry for McCullough all he wants to have is one more world title and admittely in sum of his challenges he has every right to feel hard done by decisions of referees and the fact he was nearly 3 years with out a fight due to his license been provoked, but as far back as as the harrison fight he has been finished,it was a brave effort by wayne, who will always be in my eyes be an ALL ireland(north and south)LEGEND it was a very one sided fight and if im right that fight was nearly 6 years ago and he still wants to fight on
