Barry was always known as a qute hoor, taking out a british passport to fight for a british title while walking behind the peace flag in the early 80's,reminds me a bit like Macklin who used to walk behind the union jack untill he realised he would make more money walking behind the tricolour.

Darren O'Neill was on tonight's Game On on 2fm. Said that Irvine, McComb, and O'Reilly (along with all other Euro Games medalists), are not allowed participate in the European Championships.

I wonder now will the IABA only send a 7 man team, or will they send Myers, DOJ, and Broadhurst in their place. Like I said earlier, if any of them were to make the Top 6 and fulfill the qualifying criteria for the Worlds, it would open a real can of worms RE: box-offs etc.

Rock and a hard place I suppose, you want the other lads to get international experience but it wouldn't be fair to the lads who already qualified.

(I would advocate a first past the post system as Irvine, McComb, and O'Reilly are all national champions and therefore deserved to have the first opportunity to qualify).

Although this 'problem' is a real testament to how good Irish amateur boxing is.

He cant go to the European Championships because he has already won a medal in the European Games. AIBA are blocking him going, not the IABA

On slightly earlier than the Avalos fight which should be good for numbers.

Although, Frampton will be starting around 10 so it will probably clash directly with Quigg who is chief support to Perez-Crolla

Sorry dutchie, but that is just typical small-minded Irish begrudgery.

Allow me to translate for any readers not from Ireland:

'Cute hoor' = Irish person smart enough to rise above our small-minded Irish parochial mentality. Furthermore such a person often has the temerity to actually be successful too!!

Walking behind a peace flag is a crime too is it?
Come on Dutchie - you're better than that.
Dont sink to the level of idiots like Fra and The General please.

^ O'Kane is a strange one. He looks the part - great physique and very strong., you would say he would be a good athlete alright, no doubt. But then you watch him box...and bloody hell, he looks a mess. No accuracy, no balance or co-ordination at all, punches all tangled up and sloppy...he makes Andy Lee look like Sugar Ray Leonard.

Be great if Spike could get on the Limerick card. Also apart from seeing him, it might set up a Cork-Limerick domestic clash in the future.

What about Andy saying he will stop Billy Joe in 4-5 rounds. Crazy or what?
