OK so we have: 1. Lack of power. (Len) 2. Lack of head movement. (Fra) 3. Poor tactics (BK99) As regards BK99s point -Jamie is not helped by his cornerman reading a complete chapter from the "How to be a Boxer" book between every round. atsch KISS mate! Keep It Short and Simple!!!
Jamie didnt look himself in there the other night but the heart he showed was second to none... What everyone has failed to mention is the huge amount of weight Jamie has to lose for each fight, that takes away from his power and may make him look flat and obviously affect his performance.. his defence wasnt great the other night hit with a lot of single shots... But then on the other hand there was so many things he done well, his lateral movement was excellent at times, his jab was very accurate and scored often, right hands landed clean too.. Would have liked to see him move around and box that lad more and made the fight easier for himself... I hope he lands a big fight that he deserves, hes a nice lad with a good attitude to boxing and Id like to see things go his way
Thats a tacticl/mgerial decision for Jamie and his team. If he is too drained then move up. Its a trade-off. You cant have it both ways. You cant beat mother nature. That said would his lack of power be even more apparent at a higher weight? Plus he would lose his size advantage too....????
Heard a report his bowells were at him just before the fight, reckon it could of had an effect on his performance, although give Granados credit he was a good box puncher with good power and he just kept coming forward, all these Mexican lads start off real young in the pros and lose a couple early on, I reckon we will be hearing more from him in the future.
Maybe not a move up in weight but to not drop as much weight so close to the fight... Ive seen Jamie walk around at 63kg a bit to heavy for superfly ha manage his weight a bit better and he wont be as weak you know
Ye lil Mexican lad was better than I expected to be fair...Ye he said he had stomach cramps , brought on by mass rehydration maybe ?? I dunno either way he wasnt himself so I think there was def a problem... cant wait to see him out again after saturday nights fight
Yes indeed, optimising the ol weight management is vital. But at the end of the day Jamie may just have to concede that he is too big for superfly. Walking around at 63kg? 5'7" tall? How many superflys fit that profile? (A bit like that oversized Tete lad that beat Butler - I doubt we'll see Tete at that weight again . Do you see how thin Jamies face is in the ring - all those angular sharp cheekbones sticking out like a death-camp survivor? That could well be part of the reason his face gets bust up a lot too. Looking forward to seeing Jamie again, but I doubt he'll beat Butler.
Apparently the high and defined cheek bones play a big part in the way he cuts/bruises up. I think we should take the positives from this though, from him possibly under-performing or the mexican being over-looked we ended up with a great s**** and close fight that has evidently created a buzz around boxing in this country again.
Thats what there saying they have 4 more fights with Boxnation in Dublin and the next one is in September.
