If Macklins outfit is anyway serious about cracking the Irish market, boxers like Moylett are the direction they did to go:deal
Agreed Macklin signing Irish boxers and Boxnation broadcasting promotions could be a game changer for Irish boxing
Press confernce in London much the same between lee and saunders,Liam smith will be on ****** half of the card,Spike probably aswell, richard towers and mc varnock on booths side, that leave 4 more spaces,(2 EACH) Booth want Taylor on his side but is running into road blocks,
I wouldnt argue with the decision, but would have felt the same if it had went to Ray,very tight fight, The week before it looked like it was going to be a mismatch but walsh stepped up for the final, I do think that moylett would have medaled at the euro games though,
Wayne McCullough and Paddy Barnes had words on twitter about Framptons performance. Barnes called McCullough jealous.
You are right, Walsh stepped up and it was a great and very competitive fight-but Ray definitely won it for me.
I agree completely. Walsh stepped it up and performed brilliantly to make it an exciting fight. Ray, however, was possibly the best I've ever seen him. Leaning back on the ropes, making Walsh miss and connecting with beautiful counter punching combinations. I would certainly have given it to him on the night - and the fight also showed me that he would be a great prospect as a pro. Very entertaining to watch.
Its normal for the older guys to want to give their 2 cents worth. Didnt Save 'Boy' McAuley say Carl should give up the weights. Whatever about giving up - I agree he should ease up on the heavy squatting. Does a boxer really need to be squatting twice his bdoyweight?
A boxer doesn't need to be squatting twice his bodyweight, but it shouldn't affect him negatively if he does. I know where you're coming from with regards to connecting the weight lifting and his apparent issues with weight cutting, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, that is more of a dietary issue. He can do the heavy squats and reap the rewards in terms of explosive power & strength, while at the same time changing the diet to avoid too much muscle being added.
eddie hearn is claiming after the weekend performances.... he is not willing to up his offer to frampton.... whats hearn playing at as this type of talk will only create a larger divide between these camps... the time for nonsense talk is over... make the fight ..its not a p.issing contest between hearn and mcguigan:--good
You make your point very well BK, and in no way am I trying to have a row with you. Diet as you say in important too. As you say I am indeed linking his heavy weightlifting to his problems with weight-making. However I cannot help thinking that lifting huge weights HAS to add muscle mass. Surely its uavoidable? Muscle is heavy. For a guy who is tight at the weight every ounce counts. Maybe he could reduce muscle-building weight lifting since its not doing his boxing any good. Particularly if the muscle is being added to his legs and backside where it wont necessarily make him a better boxer. Any gains in power are being more than wiped out by the negative effects of having to drain off the last few pounds. He can still do weight training with all its undoubted scientifically-proven benefits etc etc . Just do a little less of it, still have bags of power, and be fresher in the ring. A balance. Win-win. :thumbsup
Hearns £1.5m flat payment offer still stands, apparently. Thats crazy money at 122. Team Frampton should take it this time. The Quigg fight has already been jepordised enough. Dont tempt fate, or we coif lose it forever. If its not made now anything could scupper it. (For starters Nonito Donaire could get to Quigg first.)
I hear ya len, maybe it is unavoidable (or nearly at least) to put on muscle mass when lifting heavy. However, the one example I always think of is powerlifters. They also compete under strict weight classes, yet they regularly up the weight that they're lifting from competition to competion. So they must be doing it in such a way that they add strength & power without adding bodyweight/muscle. On the other hand, maybe powerlifters do this easier because that is their specific sport (and their bodies are used to adding weightlifting strength while staying at the same bodyweight). After all, they are not getting punched in the face on the non Strength and Conditioning training days I must remind myself that Carl is a boxer first and foremost Interesting discussion all the same :good
Definetly,in fact i was more impressed with frampton than quigg the other night to be honest,Quigg looked in serious bother with Martinez bullying style until he landed a bit of a hail mary uppercut,Frampton was caught cold but boxed quite well after, Risk versus reward its miles ahead of anything else he is going to get,
