He needs redemption against Kiko Martinez, he never got off in that fight ... I heard he had seriously overlooked Martinez, who was pretty much a mystery in my opinion. It appeared as if McCullough was going to get redemption for Dunne, until the weigh-in. That upset me because I wanted McCullough to go give it another shot, but Martinez supposedly wanted nothing to do with fighting him and made no attempt to lose the excess weight.

Great to see Irish boxing looking so good. Anyone know of a time when the outlook looked brighter?

I agree mick, Brian Peters and more importantly RTE backing have totally changed the Irish professional boxing scene.

Benn came into the ring that night with a record of 22 straight victories with only one lasting more than 4 rounds. He was used to meeting tomato cans who he would overpower and invariably knock out within a couple of rounds. In the first 5 rounds Benn used up a huge amount of energy trying to achieve the inevitable knockout. When he came out for the sixth round and realised he was up against a live contender who could bang, his legs and will seemed to give simultaneously.
With the above in mind I would like to see the quality of Andy Lee's opponents increasing from here on in. They have to be mindful not to ramp the quality too sharply however. Wright in June and Pavlik in November could prove to be a bridge too far.

I've lived in England for about 3 years but am from Ireland. RTE's involvement is great, although the 1st time I watched their live streaming it was Dunne / Martinez so didn't exactly get much coverage!

Any boxing fan should be happy these days..between tv / youtube / website streaming and dodgy dvd's of fights from websites there really isnt a single broadcast in the world that I can't get. It's wonderful and can only help boxing.

Having said that I take the opportunity to go to every live fight I can, I'll be at Haye / Macca next month and i've got vegas booked to see Joe take the smile off Hopkins face the month after!

Just read that James Moore will be headlining a St. Paddy' show at MSG theater called Gaelic Storm. It will be interesting to see how many fans he can attract given the fact he is basically unknown. Perhaps, the are banking on Duddy's fans to attend since he wont have a holiday show.

On the actual St. Paddy's Day or that weekend? I've been following James Moore for awhile but it's been hard being able to go see him fight. Last I heard he dropped his promoter (or manager) so he can get more fights. Duddy fans would show up if the fight were promoted right, or else not many people would know it's taking place.

Hello ML, that's great news that the ST Paddy's day boxing promotion tradition in MSG is continuing. As you are already aware an Irish boxing night is also been scheduled for the same night in Boston. Will these two promotions be in direct competition.
