Actually the biggest criticism I have of the IABA is that they have failed to capitalize on the success of the last ten years or so, in any decent PR sense. The Point, not the Stadium could have been sold out after the Olympics if they moved fast enough and brought in decent opposition to the medalists and bombarded social and public media.
Iv said that from day one every 6 weeks get the lads on a friday night show in the stadium. You wouldnt have had to leave the country We are a fighting nation our boxers would have loved the chance at fighting one of the big guns,(example casey versus barnes, walker versus conlon etc) Get an opponent brought in for Katie every second show and you have a sellout and name recognition for our fighters from sheila down the road, Some of the younger fighters senior cadets or under 18 could box on the undercard it would have energised boxing and our best would have loved the idea of regular fights in ireland in front of a full crowd,
an irish wsb seems like a great idea... but the media would have to get onboard.... and ultimately apart from olympics they only seem interested in pro boxing :good
looks like eddie hearn is looking to sign up ryan burnett... does that mean hearn is looking to put shows on in Belfast again...is he setting the wheels in motion for a long time strategy that will be looking to sign up the Belfast boxers who are going to rio next year and turn pro after it... having burnett headlining shows would be a good platform for conlan and barnes to cut there teeth in the pro game so to be speak:think:good
You seem keen to see Irish boxers under control of a foreign outfit Fra - isnt that against your principles? Surely you'd want Burnett....and eventually maybe Barnes and Conlon...to go with an Irish outfit?
