Nah just bruised a knuckle so they took him off the Belfast show as a precaution. With how fragile his hands are, and his most recent win, they're looking to fast-track him - no point fighting journeymen and risking injury. He's deep in training at the minute, will probably be on a show in England with Tommy before the end of the year
Big puncher + bad hands = no boxing career. 'Fast-track' is just b.s. If anything he should be fighting 'slow-track' (ie fight lots of journeymen) to try and develop a style more suitable to his physical limitations. Or else give up. What about Steve Collins son?
Would love to see a good undercard for Frampton and Quigg, with the boxers both stables have we could have the following Crolla - Ormond WBA Title (hopefully) Burnett - Burkinshaw (British and Commonwealth) Cummings - Keeler (Celtic and Irish title) Cacace - Martin J Ward (WBC international) McCullough - Kris Hughes (Celtic title) Gavin - Eggington (British title) Carroll 8 rounder Paddy Gallagher 6 rounder Josh Pritchard 4 rounder
Hopefully Eddie does put some good UK boxers on - if only to increase the english fan numbers.... out of fear that Quiggs supporters might not be numerous enough to fill the venue on the night.....
Yes if tickets are on unrestricted open sale Fra. But not necessarily if half the tickets are restricted to English purchasers - ie Quigg fans. Scott hasnt been a great ticket seller Fra. If, as promised, Eddie splits the venue in two, Quiggs fans will have to buy 10,000 tickets. Thats about 9,000 more than they ever have before. Will you go?
as I thought the odds on the 2 all irish fights have these guys very close....these are fights were we the irish boxing fans should have a better insight resulting in a few pennies coming our way.... so lets hear more opinions on these fights:good
I guess there will be a lot of Irish fans in the Quigg section too. No way will he fill up his 10'000 tickets all of his fights on big cards its been the other fighters on the bill who brought the fans. I can see AJ being added to the bill if he beats Whyte he will get a lot of support also with a presser in London coming up could it be that Kevin Mitchell is on the bill as well. Whats the point in having a London press conference if there is no London fighters on in big fights. So Mitchell v Ormond as a chief support act could be a good fight.
Good stuff - Im glad you're going - should be a great occasion. Enjoy it!:good (Hopefully a big win for Carl will soften the blow of what will undoubtedly be disappointing election results for your people in our General Election which will be held around the same time! ) Personally I'd Love to - but not looking likely at the moment. I wont be shy about it if I am going, you can be sure.
I see John Joe Nevin is back in the ring on the 25th November in Indiana against another poor journeyman, after his fight on the 30th October was cancelled. While it's great to see him back in the ring and active, I hope he steps up his quality of opposition from here on in.
Thats my point - Hearn will probably be forced to put some decent fighters from england/uk on the undercard to fill those 10,000 seats - I cant see Quigg selling 10,000 tickets on his own...
