So true. Also a bit of cultural misunderstanding, particularly among foreigners. Spike might not sound loud and intimidating with his soft Cork lilt, but then neither did Roy Keane.....until the kickoff, and then....!
If you look into it Spike wasnt rattled in the slightest, was quite calm and unruffled. He's got the fight - which is what he wanted - so why waste energy flapping his gums?...

Yeah point taken on that one alright but the amount of times Spike said I'm going to beat you,im going to knock you out, left me thinking he was trying g to convince himself rather than eubanks,
I favour junior to win this(head over heart) but the 4-1 for Spike is very tempting,

Ok but equally you could make the point that surrely 'himself' is the only person he needs to convince!
This reminds me very much of the whole 'self-hypnosis mantra' thing Steve had going on when he faced Chris snr 20 years ago.....that appeared a bit silly at the time too, and most saw Eubank Sr as a big favourite to beat the 'crude' 'plodding' Collins too....

I really think the Steve Collins versus eubank thing is a bit sad really, great win 20 years ago but any chance pascal and especially Steve have to get a bit of spotlight about it they milk like hell,
Diffrent fighters diffrent times diffrent circumstances,
I bet Steve is at the press conference and weigh in giving it large to senior who is every bit the Gob****e,talking about their possible third fight,

Spike has a point to prove, and the closer this fight gets the more confident I'm becoming of an Irish victory

From the first time Spike start calling out Eubank Jr, I thought he was just getting his name out there, and now that the fight has been made I don't think Spike ever really wanted it. Say what you want about him being a "shy, Cork boy", Len, but to me he looked a little rattled and Eubank looked very confident. I don't think Spike believes he can win. I believe he was calling him out all this time thinking the fight would never get made, and now it is, he doesn't look like he wants it. Very worrying how quiet and nervous he gets when Eubank is in front of him.

As I say, I dont agree with that assessment of Spike being scared/intimidated at all. Seriously, watch it again - does he REALLY look bothered? He may lose - but he will give it a good go, I feel.

Seriously - a pro boxer who 'doesn't want' a big fight?
Why be a pro at all so?
What do you thinks he is scared of? Pain? Getting hit? So why is he a boxer at all? No - that doesn't make sense.....

As fight day approaches it would be great if we could get a last-minute update on how ready Spike is from our "inside man" ....Lukekiko...???
Is Spike fit to go 12 hard rounds at a fast pace???
Has Spike really been rattled by CEJ - as many are suggesting???

I reckon he was tryin to get his name out there. Eubank never bothered for 2/3 years, whereas Spike was runnin his mouth. Now, that the fight is made and Eubank is talking back, Spike seems to have gone quiet. The only time Spike talks now is when he's doin a solo interview. Plus he's been flattered by the opponents that were brought in to fall over for him.

I think he's scared of losing after talking so much.

Unless he's pullin a master stroke and convincing Eubank that he's bottled it. If he has, then I think he's convinced a lot of people.

Apart from Chudinov - who CEJ couldnt knock over after literally hitting him with everything hes got for round after round - Spikes opponents - and the way he's dealt with them, compares favourably with Juniors' IMO.

Also fear of losing, (with the consequent embarrassment of being made to look foolish) is one of the most powerful motivating factors known to man. Spike has painted himself into a bit of corner, no doubt. He wouldnt be human if it wasnt playing on his mind some bit. But that might work to spur him on even more. :thumbsup

I hope he does it, but, just seeing how he's reacting now is a bit of a worrying sign.

I don't know him personally so I could be wrong in assuming he looks rattled. He just never seemed bothered by an opponent before.
