Try to pay attention Mac ...most of your points have already been addressed.
Deaths in MMA:
http://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/ufc/how-many-people-died-mixed-7739242

I said already that there has to be limits to what is acceptable.
Boxing is within those limits ..just! ( and occasionally not at all)
MMA is outside those limits. Simples!

No, I think you completely missed my point.

He died in his sport! Just like Johnny Owen and just like Phillip Hughes, the Cricket player.

You want it to be banned because he died? Or do you want it to be banned because you just don't like it? Just like you wanted Andy Lee to retire because you were "concerned" for his well being, when really you just have a chip on your shoulder.

And, limits or not, what's the difference between dying after a boxing match or an MMA fight?

By your logic boxing should be banned too!

Honestly Mac You're a bit like the annoying slow kid who holds up the whole class cos the poor teacher has to keep going over the same stuff for him.....I addressed all your concerns and instead of saying "thanks for the info Len" you indulge in some muckraking....:-(

I do NOT think boxing should be banned, or soccer or cricket...because ...one more time...(phew!):

They are sports. S-P-O-R-T-S.

MMA is thuggery. T_H_U_G_G_E_R_Y

(Before yu say anything, yes I know we don't live in a perfect world, and yes indeed even in proper sports there will occasionally be tragedies - you even managed to list a few examples in your otherwise pretty inane post). Just because deaths occur in legitimate activities is NOT sufficient reason to legalise illegitimate ones.

but like boxers these fellas get in the ring knowing the risks.

I wouldnt say these poor guys 'know the risks' at all....not by any means...and even if they do it still is not sufficient reason to legalise this thuggery.

Darren O'Neill went so close, as I felt he would, split decision loss to the European champion, winning the first round on all three cards. Hard luck but also well done.

No, you don't get it.

Regardless of what you think it is or what you call it, it's still a f.ucking sport! A sport where they fighters run the risk of being killed just like a f.ucking cricket player! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it should be banned!

That is my f.ucking point! You just want it banned because you don't like it! Well tough f.ucking s.hit!

I'm not a fan, but to say it should be banned because you think it's "thuggery" is f.ucking stupid!

What about people who claim boxing to be "thuggery"? Or any other contact sport? What would you say to those people?

Talk to me like I'm a f.ucking child? You patronising c.unt!

Get off your high horse and sort out that chip on your shoulder you arrogant p.rick!

You came on here saying you didnt know about deaths in MMA.
I posted a link to the facts.
I also gave my opinion that MMA crosses the line between acceptable and unacceptable levels of violence.

You could have just said "Well fair enough OK Len I didnt know it was all that dangerous".

Life is full of limits - age limits for relationships, blood alcohol limits for driving, speed limits for driving Height limits for Airline Cabin Crew etc etc.
I call boxing the upper limit for acceptable levels of violence in sport.
I believe MMA is thuggery and should be banned. I also feel most right-thinking people agree with me.

Also MMA is NOT a sport:

Regardless of how many deaths there have been in MMA, that is not the point! The point is YOU want something banned because YOU dont like it! The way YOU wanted Andy Lee to retire! Because you have a f.ucking chip on your shoulder about everything!

Yes, YOU believe MMA is thuggery and it should be banned! What about the people who think boxing is "thuggery" and that it should be banned? F.uckin hypocrite! Because YOU don't like something, isn't enough to have something banned! No one else agrees with you, the same way no one agreed with you on Any Lee, so SHUT UP!

I don't consider cricket a sport (My opinion, just dont like it) let's have that boring s.hite banned too.

Anyone else out there have any other sports or athletes they don't like?

Ok mcguinty first off I want to say "sorry" for insulting you. That was below the belt. You are entitled to come on here without being insulted. That's only fair.
At least you are willing to debate the issue, not like others who have gone to ground....disappeared like rats up a drainpipe.
I DO want MMA banned, but I never said Andy lee should be banned. I encouraged him to retire, yes but that's all.
For me MMA goes beyond acceptable levels of violence. It is out and out thuggery....not just "boring" like cricket.

This is serious. In the past few months we have had gunmen attacking a boxing event, and a death in MMA. We need this like a hole in the head. ( no pun intended!)
Ironically the boxing outfit who were basically victims of the shooting have been banned, but MMA has not. There's something wrong there.

Took the odds on Joyce, hope that's not him cursed now! Was 13-8 against a guy he's beaten twice and stopped once. Plus he's improved since 2012 (as has Cordina, in fairness).
