Luke was over eager against Doran. A calmer head would have won him the fight. I've a feeling he will never fight like that again.

boxers seem to always get this honour. It's a shame RTE don't value the sport the same way

More to it than that Marty. Francis Barrett was a traveller, Barnes is from norn iron. All sorts of "poly ticks" nonsense involved in them being selected. Only a coincidence they are boxers. Only boxer that probably got to do it solely on merit was Katie ......and who knows, there may even have been a "gender balance" factor involved there.....

( or ....maybe all other athletes refused in case of injury carrying the stupid thing...!!!!!)

And I suppose the fact that Barnes has two bronze medals and is one of the favourites to win gold would have nothing to do with it

Anthony Yigit taking on Sutcliffe Jr? Very high risk maneuver by Sauerland no? Do they see a weaknesses in Sutcliffe or just don't realise the risk they are taking?

yes I definitely do. He will be the underdog but only because yigit is hometown fighter of Sauerland. I think Yigit could sneak it but he will feel the power of Sutcliffe early so anything can happen.

Tennyson showing great heart and will, but its a bit like a longer version of Keeler-Doran..lots of heart from the Irish guy: but with the tidier work coming from the British lad in both cases...
