boxers seem to always get this honour. It's a shame RTE don't value the sport the same way

 

More to it than that Marty. Francis Barrett was a traveller, Barnes is from norn iron. All sorts of "poly ticks" nonsense involved in them being selected. Only a coincidence they are boxers. Only boxer that probably got to do it solely on merit was Katie ......and who knows, there may even have been a "gender balance" factor involved there.....

( or ....maybe all other athletes refused in case of injury carrying the stupid thing...!!!!!)

 

And I suppose the fact that Barnes has two bronze medals and is one of the favourites to win gold would have nothing to do with it

yes I definitely do. He will be the underdog but only because yigit is hometown fighter of Sauerland. I think Yigit could sneak it but he will feel the power of Sutcliffe early so anything can happen.
