You could add spikes two ventures up and Ormonde aswell to that list, and a few more besides,
do we tend to overestimate the lads we support or is it thr lack of boxing in Ireland that causes these small step ups to be too much for our boxers,

Here's hoping Conlon does a bit better - I must admit I've never found Conlon convincing at all - but I hope he can surprise me tonight.

That was some fight both fighters looked gone at numerous stages throughout. Jamie looked gone until found that peach of a shot. Fun fighter is Jamie, rematch in Belfast would be nice.

I'd put it down to our best amateurs not turning over or turning over too late coupled with the lack of pro scene in Ireland. Theres really not much options for an irish boxer other than to go to the states or fight in small hall shows every six months in ireland until your brought in as an opponent abroad.

Conlan rightly or wrongly is the most exciting boxer in irish boxing

He is very brave and fit. Fair play to him for finding that finishing left hook bodyshot. Nelson had abandoned all defence and was just walking forward though which made it easy for Jamie. I would favour Nelson to win a rematch. As for Butler or Yafai.....

Conlan seems to switch off at times and then gets tagged. It surprised me how easy he goes down but always manages to get up.if they can keep conlan at that level he could make a few successful defences at home but going on the war he had to fight last night butler might be too much for him.
