Paddy needs fights and especially at the 3x3 distance. He is due tobox in a tourney in Lithuania at Flyweight and for the next few weeks will be in camp with Irvine, McKenna, Conlon, Horn, Yafai, Ali, the German's Tumba and Cherakis, India's Laishram and from Kazakhstan Zhakypov and Sattibayev. That should get him up to speed, and over APB or WSB conditions I think he would be a near cert but even over the shorter duration I fancy him.
Good work Matt, lack of competitive action would be my main concern for Barnes also but on form there's only a few in the division that get close to him.
fcuk it just watched him against owen..... this guy yigit comes to fight... he is tailor made for Sutcliffe... Sutcliffe will blast this guy out:good
Sutcliff is an unknown quantity too. Also hasnt he got fragile hands? Not very reassuring for a 'big puncher' is it?. Not to put a dampener on it but recent fights involving Irish lads against overseas opposition have surely shown us there is no point in getting too excited about their chances when they are so unproven....look at Lee, O'Kane, Spike, Keeler...Tennyson..and but for a near-miracle Conlon too...we dont seem to have the talent we thought we had after all. All in all it just goes to show how good Frampton is in a way...he seems to be our only proven world class operator - he keeps winning.
Phil has stopped one of his last four, not the record you would expect from a huge puncher. I hope he wins we really could do with a good win away from home.
Agree with that Matt, normally I wouldnt be a big fan of inactivity but in this case Barnes needed the rest. I would say from here on in he will be fine tuning his skills to hopefully bring back gold. Long road yet to go but I'm quietly confident that he will succeed.
I believe it is a brilliantly calculated step for quigley, It has raised a few eyebrows amd generated a bit of interest,a solid performance and win will propel him up the ranking systems, and also give him the feeling of boxing up the programme on a big card,
It definitely shows confidence, but that kind of brashness can backfire. I'd say on paper JDLR is a steeper cannon-blast up the parapets than was, say, Yvan Mendy for Luke Campbell. :think
On paper yes but he has won just three of his last six and hasnt fought since he was knocked out two years ago, Quigley should be fine here after a bit of a test,
