Sorry to voice a sour note on this great day but was anybody else as unimpressed with paschal Collins as I was? Pano should have been pulled out anytime after 3. Yes three rounds. It was that obvious. He was being slaughtered in there. Paschal was like a spanner on the apron for ages with the towel in his hand..yet he did nothing....if things are that bad throw the bloody towel in ffs. He let spike take too much too. And he did Luke keeler no favours, bad advice in his doran Match.... Then there was the weight fiasco too last night. All in all I don't think I would be recommending paschal as a trainer from what I've seen lately.
Great performance from Carl, he is a genuine superstar now, pity he dosent post on here anymore haha. Would love to see him in with Valdez who was last beat by Nevin in 2012. Ireland won 2 Gold medals in the European schoolboys at the weekend, wth Crumlins Hayden and Galways Myers. Beat Russia 5-4 during the week which goes to show the conveyer belt is still producing top lads.
Something seems to be going wrong up at the gym as all of his fighters this year has tasted defeat apart from Stephen Ormond that I know of correct me if i am wrong. Just seems whatever they are doing in the gym isnt working. I guess it can go that way at times. The over weight issue is just so wrong to be off by that much is mad. Or maybe Hyland just didnt have the desire to fight and train hard to beat Warrington. After the Russell Jnr defeat it would always be hard to come back from that so quickly. I think it will go in stages and the gym will get back on track might need a new face to come in or new ideas from other gyms but I am guessing Paschal will sort it out he must be gutted for the lads he has in the gym. As I think some are nearing last chances Keeler and Spike are 1 defeat away from calling it a day for me.
Pascal seems good to get his lads to a certain level, timms, spike, keeler and ormonde come to mind about lads who are above domestic level, hyped up (mostly by the gym and gym mates)but seems to stumble on the first step up, Ormonde,Spike and Luke probably one lose away from journeyman/gatekeeper level and Niall Kennedy is another that will go as far as Irish level but no higher IMO, New blood could shake up the gym alright and some good younger elite lads will be thinking of turning after this year,
All the boxers from paschal so gym are aggressive attack sluggers. No one seems to have a clue about a jab and move strategy. Paschal thinks "defence" is something that separates his garden from his neighbours! Keeler in the doran fight was very badly advised in the corner. He was sent out, still badly hurt from the previous round, with no good advice. With the right advice , Luke could have run like a thief until his head cleared, and still gone on to win that fight IMO. We'll never know obviously now though. Defence. Defence. Defence. Also I am a bit cross with the Bould Luke. He had no problem posting on here regularly when he was winning. But since he lost to Doran he has disappeared like a scalded cat. So Luke...if you are reading this...anyone can be a "sunshine sailor" mate. Anyone can be your friend in the good times. It's how he responds to adversity that is the mark of a man. You have good fans on here. Don't turn your back on them. It's tough facing the music after a loss, we all know that. So come on back here Luke.
Why would any pro boxer post on here and have to deal with the biggest pack of haters on the internet. So many assholes on this forum its ridiculous. Haha postin on a boxing forum is the best way to deal with adversity!!!!! Hahaha You would think getting back in the ring and getting a few wins would be the way to deal with a loss. But no!!! The biggest way to deal with a loss is to come on here and stand up to all the trolls. Hahahaha I've heard it all now
:huh Not sure what you are on about there joe? Who said anything about the "best way" to do anything? Who said anything about standing up to " all the trolls?" Maybe you need to read my post again when you are a bit calmer. Id love to see Luke rebound with some wins. Ideally ...eventually... Beating Doran. I have serious doubts that he can do it as long as he stays with paschal Collins, who I don't think is right for him. I don't think paschal is the right man to help Luke develop the parts of his game that he needs to improve if he is to beat Doran-level opposition. Any for all we know Luke may have quit boxing. As I say we don't hear from him anymore.
Sorry disappeared lads busy at work, at home with two lads and working hard on putting few mistakes in my game right! Looking forward to a busy end of year matchroom have a date mid October that can confirm details next week on Birmingham show! And rumours of a couple of Dublin shows in pipeline that I hope to be on. Annoyed by couple comments on this I won't lie but look forward to proving a few people wrong and I'll keep posting some inside information and updates from our gym for those who support us on this. Few disappointing results lately but I'm positive Ormond will turn that around along with good win for Kennedy last week.
Good to see you're sticking at it like. Since nobody else hardly bothered to comment I imagine you're annoyed at me. Well like this is a boxing forum where people are supposed to give their opinions. Say what they like ...and what they don't like. That's the nature of an open forum..you'll hear things you don't like from time to time. In a sport that relies on fans THe time to worry is when people are NOT talking about you. Not everybody who is patting you on the back and telling you yore a great fellow is your friend and not everyone who criticises you is your enemy. One of the best pieces of advice ....for life...not just sport...I've heard came from a well known athlete that I don't particularly like but that don't mean it ain't good advice! ( maybe you know who said this or can figure it out for yourself without me naming the person) it goes like this. "If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got". Think about it. I'll be rooting for you. You can do it.
Well said, I can agree with this...I have a feeling you let an enemy pat you on the back more than once and a mean honest friend criticized you harshly.
Irish boxer fails drug test I have an idea who and its probably not performance enhancing silly boy if true
