On a lighter note I see that the bould Steve Collins now says Carl Frampton is our greatest fighter. No kidding Steve! I seem to remember only a month or two ago our Steve was telling us that honour belongs to Conor McGregor.

Terrible about Barnes. What's worse is it looks like lack of fitness cost him. No excuse for not being fit.....

At times Paddy was too easy to hit for my liking. I wonder what he will do now. I hope he turns pro myself. Done some brilliant things as a amatur and you cant help but think he was done at the weight. 29 could well have a decent pro carer if he teams up with the right promotor.

Barnes is saying he was dead at the weight.

Can't believe Barnes was beat first round!

I'd like to see him go pro now

You don't outgrow a weight division overnight. Surely with better management this could have been Forseen. Could he not have moved up?
Can't help thinking things would be better if we hadn't lost Billy Walsh.

I genuinely think Barne has in fact outgrown the 49KG. People may say why didnt he notice before but he hasn't had to qualify recently due to early qualification and to be fair he is now I think 27/28 which is the time natural weight gain occurs in a lot of fighters. If anything he should have moved up a division. I don't think his amateur career is over by any stretch but I would love to see him get an offer by a promoter because its not too late. Problem i financial security won't be comparable to the pro game. It's a shame. On a side note I don't normally comment on boxers outside the ring but I do think he made a mistake having a go at Rory McIlroy even if it was only Banter. Not great PR and especially for the flag bearer. I'm not Rory Mc Fan but I just think he made a mistake and should not have been tweeting that nonsence. I really like Barnes and he could do great as a pro as he hast the qualities. Just think he should tame the outburts a little. in the Pro game he will need the casuals to support him for the money. Let's hope he moves on to bigger and better things now.

On a separate note can't wait to see Big Joe make his Olympic debut. The Ecuadorian is unorthadox and in these games it is clear anything can happen. The 2 boys did wel yesterday. I fear for Katie though coming up against the hometown girl! And she is decent too. THan we have the master Mr Conlan to enjoy also:bbb

    Thought barnes scra*ed the decision.

Feel really bad for him. I know how making weight can make you seriously fatigued.
