No wonder he was being so coy about who he signed with given recent headlines!
This news will send the usual suspects - Moorser, Sugar88 etc into meltdown!

Does anyone else it's kind of sad in a way that all the other amateur stars turning pro get big press conferences, photo-ops with arum, Hearn,bFwank...whoever.

But poor paddy Barnes misses out on all that....just a "statement" from an anonymous "spokesman" for MGM. No public profile at all. I know there's reasons why MGM management prefer to stay out of the limelight and remain in the background, but it IS tough on the boxer missing his big day out in the media.

So Fra - you're on the ground up there in the wee north . You must have the inside track on the gossip. Why didn't Barnes go with his pal Carl and join Cyclone? Why did he choose MGM? What made him choose MGM?

So let me get this straight ....Paddy Barnes, Irish nationalist is all pals with Carl Frampton, a tigers bay prod, but can't stand Carl's legendary manager from the Irish Republic, boxing superstar Barry McGuigan, a fellow Irish Catholic!

You didn't answer my question though...why, out of all the outfits courting him, did Paddy choose MGM. Particularly in light of recent adverse publicity and all the restrictions and limitations as a result?

Kind of sad when you see quigley in big photo ops and press conferences with ODLH, conlon likewise with bob arum.......etc etc all the big am stars getting their day in the sun.

Then you see poor paddy bronze ....all on his lonesome.
Only an anonymous "statement" from an anonymous "spokesman" to keep him company.
Pretty lame.

I thought both Mick and Paddy signed management deals with MGM, Mick will be promoted by TOP RANK im not sure who Paddys promoter is,so cyclone could still be in the mix somehow,
Mick actually got the same low key announcement almost word for word from MGM but it was after the TOP RANK
press conference so didnt even raise an eyelid,

 

Sounds right. MGM couldn't be a promoter even if they wanted to.
A promoter HAS to be front of house, out there at media events, travelling around etc etc etc

A manager can be a lot more in the background.
Given media reaction and public opinion to Daniel kinahan and his personal circumstances in general (and I stress I'm not judging him myself, l simply don't know) he would not be able to do the job of a promoter.

Perhaps the plan is to let the much more "acceptable" Matt Macklin become the promotional public face of MGM?
