Well said. We broadly agree then. I appreciate money too you know! I know Conor is the biggest earner. It's a question of where you draw the line I suppose.....
Fra, you're killing us, can you just post links rather than copying and pasting articles from the site please
Don't upset him for gods sake joe. It's hard enough to get him to post anything at all. Marty has disappeared since you gave out to him....
I think it's a mistake to link mma and boxing...I don't think you can equate the two under the "banner" of "combat sports". Boxing fans are true sports fans. Mma fans are just prurient fans of violence. Millions of people are like that, so yes indeed mma has a huge market. People have an endless fascination with gore and violence. Mma taps into this. No credit is due to this so called sport or its participants for that. If gladiatorial combat was legalised tomorrow it would be bigger than mma...blow mma out of the water. There wouldn't be a stadium big enough to hold the crowds. Does that make people hacking each other with swords and axes praiseworthy?
RTE Irish Sports Person of the Year voting. Can vote for Carl Frampton here. https://www.rte.ie/sport/other-sport/2016/1202/836026-choose-a-sports-person-of-the-year/
I think this year it will be hard for Carl to get it with how big Conor McGregor has got it is almost a certain he will get it.
Its quite normal in this country for the wrong person to get elevated to high rank/reward. Its just what we Irish do, so sadly you are probably right leighton....
http://www.irish-boxing.com/full-fight-stephen-ormond-v-zoltan-szabo-rematch/ Ormonds winning rematch. Really good the way the camera and mike were right up in Ormonds corner during the breaks. I must say Collins seemed to give really top advice to Ormond. I was impressed. Good cornerwork by Collins.
It was mission accomplished for Belfast’s Steven Ward [2(0)-0] on Saturday night in Coventry. The light heavyweight got a quickfire second pro bout under his belt, took a step up in class, and claimed a comprehensive win. The Commonwealth Games silver medalist had debuted last month on the big Belfast Boxnation show, but it was all change at the weekend, fighting at the swanky Hilton Hotel. It was in a change in terms of opponent too. Ward had debuted against frustratingly awkward survivor Merdjidin Yuseinov, but this time round he took on capable come-forward tester Remigijus Ziausys. Ward would rise to the occasion, flooring the Lithuanian in the third with an uppercut en-route to a dominant win. Happy with his performance over in England, the 26 year old told Irish-Boxing.com how “the fight went really well. I was expecting a tough fight with Remigijus to come forward strong the whole time like he does with in most fights, but I was able to get the jab established early and got very comfortable from the start.” “I preferred this fight [over his debut] as Remigijus took a few chances and was able to leave some openings for me to work on a few things that I had been doing in the gym.” Ziausys was a surprisingly strong second opponent for Ward, but the Ulsterman, nicknamed ‘The Quiet Man,’ is not one to shout about being fast-tracked, and described how “I’m not sure about being moved along fast, obviously all that is between Oliver in my corner and MGM. All I can do it fight who they put in front of me. They are a great management so I’ve 100% faith in them.” It’s been a successful start to life in the pros for the former Monkstown amateur, and he, like the rest of us, is excited for 2017. Ward outlined that “I plan to be as busy as always and be out a lot. I’m really looking forward to next year and what it brings. There’s exciting times ahead for boxing, especially in Belfast with all the talent oozing out of it!” http://www.irish-boxing.com/steven-ward-delighted-with-very-comfortable-step-up-win/
Good lord Fra, please put just the link up, we need people to go onto the site itself. It's how we (try to) make a living
Joe you've made this point enough by now. At this stage anybody still posting full articles is doing it DELIBERATELY. Even I know to post a link. It cant be accidental. Maybe just to wind you up for a reaction, I dont know.....perhaps if there was a forum on the site or some way for fans to interact with it or submit comments on it things might calm down. Is is possible the lack of a a facility for people to give feedback/comments etc has frustrated them and annoyed them and this is some sort of 'payback' against you/the site????
