Been underwhelmed by both Barnes and Mick Conlon so far but expect (or maybe hope) that we will see their class after they step up in class,
Big odds on a Jamie Conlon win the weekend probably deservedly so but at 7/2 he is very backable...

I just cant see what the fuss is about Paddy Barnes as a pro. He strategically maximized his particular style and tight guard as an amateur and parlayed them into a very successful top level amateur career; fair dues to him - but he was never suited to the pros IMO, and certainly not at his current age. Some fans rate him and consider him a hard hitter but contrary to popular belief he is not a hard puncher at all - far from it. I cant see how he will achieve any success as a pro - basically he is a limited boxer, poor defensively, probably not particularly fit/athletic either and with the wrong style and to top it off he has no punch! How can he achieve anything?

I think Mick Conlon is overrated too. But he is far better than Barnes and should go a long way towards world level - perhaps even some day pick up some version of a title or at least challenge for one (if he is very lucky and very well managed).

As for his brother - Dont bet on Jamie Conlon. He will lose. Rant over!

He can't be that bad an opponent, Fra! Even if he was a no-hoper...its Carl Frampton ffs....Irish fans on here should be getting behind him, surely....

Just watched the weigh in. The Mexican looks huge. At least super-feather sized. In great shape. Carl better be "up" for this guy because if I'm any judge of body language this fella is here to win. At 27 he is in his physical prime too. This fight is no gimme.

That was by far the best I've seen from paddy Barnes. It's hard to account for why a guy who can turn in a performance like that can manage to look so mediocre at times. He can do it when it suits him. Physically he has the skills. Maybe his problems are mental. One sallow doesn't make a summer, but that was a convincing, comprehensive and well rounded performance from Barnes. Maybe he can prove me wrong.....

Conlan brutally exposed. Absolutely sickening the number of "chances" conlan was given by the disgustingly biased ref, Steve gray. Whereas Barnes has some ability and often just doesn't show it ...conlan just doesn't have it to show, sorry. Brave, brave guy, but not a championship boxer.

I can't understand the mentality of the people who are knocking framptons performance on the Brit forum. I thought he was excellent last night. I took a lot of positives from it. As usual two of his shortcomings...his lack of a really good sustained body attack, particularly a mcguiganesque left hook to the body, and a certain lack of engine/stamina were evident. Apart from that I thought he was excellent....and by the way it was a great fight too!

Will Burnett fight Tete? Or will he manage to avoid him? Carl was able to avoid Rigo - and this is a similar situation Burnett finds himself in: a very threatening opponent looms! What should Burnett do?
