How’s things pal herniated disc or slipped disc what mri says just recoverying staying fresh swimming I’ll fight winner early next year. Couldn’t train past 4 weeks but rest is helping it another couple weeks I’ll be back training and push on. I had a fracture in knuckle that happened in camp before last fight that didn’t give time to properly heal so the back injury prob blessing in disguise give that a proper rest aswel get right and have injury free run of 2019. Plenty time to stay in gym continue work on little adjustments with Pete and set up big 2019. Fell back in love with boxing under Pete learning and improving so not too disappointed just gives me more time to prepare and put in world class performance next fight.
Thanks for taking the time and trouble Luke. Be super careful with that disk. They don't get better ...once they start bulging the process can't be reversed. It's a bit like adding water to cement. .. You're on your way to concrete whether you like it or not! I know all about it. I had a completely shattered disk...the soft gel type core had completely burst out through the hard exterior shell of my disk and my my disk and my spinal cord was stretched as tight as a guitar string. Still getting weekly physio...and painful sciatica... 15 years later . You're not that bad obviously, but treat it with the utmost respect. Talk to your consultant about the pros and cons of surgery etc. Get the best advice. But you know to do that anyway .. .. If you continue to improve at the same rate as your last fight you might yet have something big to tell the grandkids in 30 years time. Let's hope so. Good luck and keep us posted OK?
Sometimes when a disc fully ruptures sciatic symptoms disappear because the disc re hydrates and no longer puts pressure on the nerve root. Very unlucky though len
Thanks for the update Luke. Hope the recovery goes well and you get fit in time to get that belt back. I've also had herniated disk and my sciatica thankfully resolved, touch wood. Sorry to hear your story Len.
Unlucky Luke, but as you indicated there's still some positives after incurring such an injury. Good luck with next year.
Stevie mcKenna turning pro.Think Ive seen him in the Stadium, decent enough if memory serves me right.

Speaking of promoting...what’s this talk about frank warren going bankrupt?? Will this affect Carl ???
Thanks a lot lads I’m swimming to take pressure off back and got gravity boots hanging upside down to de compress spine is helping a lot. I’m getting epidural guided with ultrasonic into disc in couple days so hopefully eases pain down leg and ease back into full time training soon. I’ll be staying focused in gym, I imagine I’ll be out early feb gives me nice long camp to continue improving under Pete. Not long left in career won’t be hanging around I want to continue to step up levels go far as possible then retire.
A couple of things I've found helpful Luke that you can do in bed at night to ease the pain down the leg is to put a thick soft layer of foam...or a really good thick camping mat... . on top of the mattress in your bed. I've used both for years. Very helpful. Also use an electric blanket in bed, the heat helps. Also try to vary your sleeping position.. ..dont spend all night lying on your back as this puts pressure on the sciatic nerve. ...(this is the cause of the pain and numbness down the butock/leg).
The assassin card in Mayo looks a good one and now tg4 are covering 3 hours of it. This may be the shot in the arm needed to Irish boxing if it goes well.
